The successor version, developed collaboratively after JHS acquired Sky Pedals.
You may have heard/seen our newest JHS Pedals release the Alpine Reverb. What you may not know is that we recently acquired Sky Pedals and the framework of the Cloud9 lives on in the Alpine (re-designed and improved of course!). We flew out Jim Coleman of Sky Pedals to our workshop in Kansas City back in early November and made a little video talking about this news and our recent acquisition of Sky Pedals. Here’s the story briefly told by me (Josh, JHS Pedals) and Jim Coleman (Sky Pedals) of how/why JHS Pedals purchased Sky Pedals, re-designed the Cloud9, and developed the Alpine Reverb…
A few months ago we were presented with a unique opportunity of supporting a fellow builder Jim Coleman of Sky Pedals and continuing on his initial work as he was closing down shop at Sky Pedals. Jim was producing small batches of a great reverb pedal called the Cloud9. At JHS Pedals, we've never been too interested in designing and producing a reverb pedal since there are so many great reverb pedals already on the market. Our focus the last few years has been developing unique products such as the Colour Box, Emperor, Panther Cub, SuperBolt, and Twin Twelve.
After considering the opportunity to acquire Sky Pedals and re-design the Cloud9, we went ahead and moved on it! The timing was right and the opportunity made sense from our angle as it opened the door for JHS Pedals into the reverb market that we wouldn’t have really considered knocking on…all-the-while …buying out Sky Pedals and compensating Jim also helped him close the door to his business and move on to other opportunities that he wanted to pursue.
We’re proud to bring you the final result several months later in the JHS Pedals Alpine Reverb.

The compact successor, as stated by Josh Scott in this May 7, 2021 video at 8:19.
Technically, it’s a V2 of the Alpine. People don’t want to come to terms with that, some people say the Alpine sound better. This is the exact same circuit. It’s just smaller with a different icon and name. Let me say that again. This [the Alpine] does not sound better than this [the Spring Tank]. This and this are the same thing. So this is a version two Alpine and what’s weird is the Alpine is technically a version two of the Cloud 9 that I bought from Jim who made this pedal back in the day. So in a way, the Spring Tank is a version three of a Cloud 9.
