Sony MDR-1000X Review - SoundGuys

soundguys.com

The Sony MDR-1000X headphones deliver stellar active noise canceling, excellent sound quality, and impressive battery life, making them a top choice for wireless ANC headphones. However, they come with a hefty price tag and are known for creaking issues. The touch-sensitive controls, while innovative, can be finicky, requiring a bit of a learning curve. Despite these quirks, they stand out in their class, rivaling even the Bose QC35s. If you're willing to invest in premium sound and noise cancelation, these headphones won't disappoint, though budget-conscious buyers may hesitate at the $400 price point.

Sony MDR-1000X Wireless Headphones review | TechRadar

techradar.com

Sony's MDR-1000X are a compelling choice for those wanting top-notch noise cancellation with Hi-Res Audio support, making them ideal for frequent flyers. The headphones shine with features like Quick Attention mode and long battery life, providing excellent sound quality through the LDAC codec. However, they come at a premium price, pricier than Bose's offerings, and have a finicky Ambient Noise mode. Despite being older, they remain competitive but are outpaced by newer models from Sony. If you value sound quality and comfort over cost, these are still a strong contender.

Sony MDR-1000X Wireless Review - RTINGS.com

rtings.com

The Sony MDR-1000X headphones offer stellar noise cancellation, making them ideal for commuting and travel. With a premium build and comfortable fit, they accommodate casual use well. However, they lack app support for customization, and their sound profile may not satisfy critical listeners due to inconsistent treble performance. While sturdy, the headband has a tendency to break, which is a significant drawback. Despite these issues, their excellent noise isolation and active features make them a solid choice for everyday users looking for high-quality noise-canceling headphones.

Sony MDR-1000X review | What Hi-Fi?

whathifi.com

The Sony MDR-1000X headphones offer impressive noise-cancelling capabilities and balanced, expressive sound, making them a strong contender against top models like the Bose QuietComfort 35. With a solid 20-hour battery life and innovative features such as Quick Attention mode, these headphones excel in both functionality and comfort. However, the touch controls can be somewhat unreliable, especially when pausing or resuming music. Despite this, the overall build quality and sound performance make the MDR-1000X a worthwhile investment, especially if found at a discounted price compared to newer models.

Best piece of gear I bought in 2017

I bought many pieces of gear in my life, but getting this pair of headphones was one of the best. It's just so practical. I don't really use it during my music production sessions, but I use it when I'm having a walk in nature, when I'm lying in bed at night or when I'm taking a bath :) The noise cancelling is amazing!
