Build quality

  • The Sony MDR-V700s are prone to cracking at the pivots, especially if the wire is worn over the right shoulder and the cup is twisted backward.

    Source

Sony MDR-V700 Review | THE SWEET & THE SALTY! - Home Studio Basics

homestudiobasics.com

The Sony MDR-V700 DJ headphones deliver impressive bass and decent sound isolation, making them appealing for DJs and genres like hip-hop and trance. However, they fall short in durability, with a fragile build prone to breaking at the swivel joints and headband. Comfort is also an issue, as extended wear can cause discomfort and ear soreness. While they excel in a DJ setting, their lack of neutrality and comfort make them unsuitable for studio use or casual listening. Overall, a mixed bag with potential counterfeit issues, the MDR-V700 headphones might be worth considering, but there are more durable alternatives available.

Excellent sound quality

I was looking for a pair of Sony MDR-V150 but I stumbled across these for a great price on eBay and I bought them and I’m glad I did. The dynamic range is quite good; excellent sound clarity, plenty bass and highs. Frequency Response is 5 Hz - 30 kHz. They have 50mm drivers. They are plastic but (what isn’t these days) and seem to be pretty sturdy. Just take care not to drop the things on the floor.

Splendid !

I bought many cheap headphones before this one and I regret to have buy so many entry level stuff. This item will greatly enhance your dj skills and the sound is phenomenal for the home studio too. Only bemol is that the headphone seems fragile. I have mine for a little bit over 8 years now and it's still working wonderful. I know others that broke their very quickly.

Fantastic headphones.

I have owned several of these over the years for studio and on road use. they are perfect companions for any artist. Its a darn shame they are no longer made.

On the go since 1999

Have been using these since 1999. Well worth investing in quality and these have been worth every penny. Nearly time for an upgrade though. Finally starting to crack in spots.
