Recently Depeche Mode swept through Copenhagen on their 2017 World Tour and T-Rex jumped at the opportunity to meet up with Jez Webb, Martin Gore’s guitar tech, to take a sneak peek at how they use our pedals to produce the amazing sound they are known for. By coupling the T-Rex Octavius and Bass Juice analog pedals with the more modern Kemper and Rivera amps they produced an intoxicatingly fat, warm sound. It was particularly exciting to check-out how they were utilizing the FuelTank Power Supplies such as, Classic, Chameleon and Junior based on the amount of juice they need.

A rather minimal pedalboard lies at Tremonti’s feet. It starts with his signature Morley wah and goes into an Ibanez TS808HW Tube Screamer, Dunlop UV1 Uni-Vibe Chorus/Vibrato pedal, T-Rex Octavius Tri-Tone Generator, and ends with a Palmer PGA03 Splitter that sends the signal to the amps. A T-Rex Fuel Tank Juicy Lucy sits alongside and handles the power.

In a 2011 feature on Guitar.com, Chet Haun, Gus G’s guitar tech, praised the simplicity and quality of Gus G.'s rig, which included the T-Rex Engineering Octavius Octave pedal.

In the video, you see Jeff talk about the pedals he uses. He mentions that the Octavius is a core part of the Norma Jean sound.

"My pedal board tends to change over time. Right now I’m using:

T-Rex Octavius - I love this pedal, a very precise and evil-sounding octave pedal."

In an interview with Premier Guitar's Jason Shadrick, Joe Robinson says about the Octavius (at 7:20 in the video), "The T-Rex Octavius I love. I have actually two of them, one for acoustic and one for electric. I use the boost on that a lot. That pedal is a real stable part of the sound I get."

"My live ‘board is pretty simple - essentially just a tuner, an octave pedal, and a couple of subtle boost pedals. 90% of the core sound is from the guitar and amp, then a clean boost is used just to push the amp a bit harder into overdrive. I use the guitar volume for most of the tonal variations.

Main pedals used are as follows:

Free The Tone FINAL BOOSTER - Fantastic clean boost… the great thing is when set at zero and kicking it in there no tonal/level change whatsoever - it only adds to what’s already there. Has a nice natural sounding buffer in it too.

Sonic Research ST-200 Tuner - Accurate and reliable strobe tuner that works great especially for the ‘half a step down’ tuning I use. Easy to see on dark stages too!

T-Rex ALBERTA - Nice subtle tubescreamer type pedal, smoother and warmer sounding than the classic TS pedals. Normally just kicked in now and then with the Strat.

T-Rex OCTAVIUS Octave pedal with switchable clean boost - This is great and is used mostly with the old cello slide guitar. The guitar has a really low output so the extra boost on here works perfectly to beef things back up.

Brightonion Pedals TRUE BYPASS LOOPER - Any pedals that aren’t true bypass run through this, plus it keeps things nice and easy to switch on and off during a gig as every thing is at the front!

Hard to miss that purple/pink octaver

In the Digital Tour Bus episode of GEAR MASTERS, Phillip Farris mentions that Scottie Henry of Norma Jean used the T-Rex Engineering Octavius Octave pedal, which is known for contributing to the band's signature sound.
