Use cases and applications

  • The Meatbox reissue excels on bass, capable of intense low-end power that can physically shake shelves.

    Source
  • Owners often utilize the Meatbox with a Bass VI and headphones, noting the pedal's ability to produce significant low-end power even without a full amp setup.

  • It's recommended to run the Meatbox through a PA system instead of a regular amp to prevent speaker damage due to its powerful subharmonic output.

    Source
  • It's beneficial to split the signal between regular pedals and a chain with the Meatbox to enhance the overall sound, especially when used on guitar.

Features and functionality

  • Struggles with tracking high guitar strings, but performs well with lower tunings, making it more suited for bass rather than guitar.

    Source
  • The Meatbox reissue includes specific EQ notches at 30Hz and 60Hz, enhancing its capability to deliver deep, controlled bass without excessive muddiness.

    Source

    Source
  • The reissue's availability has fluctuated, with recent batches offering original pricing, contrasting with previously inflated used prices that exceeded $300.

    Source
  • Despite recent availability, the Meatbox is still considered a rare find, with prices previously rivalling original models due to scarcity.

    Source
  • The reissue's pricing around $150 is higher than some expected, but still considered a worthwhile investment, especially if the older version can be repurposed for synth use.

    Source

User experience

  • Some users express concern over potential speaker damage due to its powerful sub frequencies, highlighting its intense output.

    Source
  • Some users find the pedal's sound "boomy and huge," yet not overly muddy, indicating a well-tuned balance for low-frequency output.

Blow shit up with this thing!

I've been playing with this thing for about a month and I've been nothing but stoked to be using one. It is reactive when you play it, meaning that you have to play pretty soft for some of the really low notes to shine through. I tend to just boost almost everything and get a huge sub sound that rattles the walls. I highly recommend this pedal to any bass player. You'll finally be able to get that low sub sound you've always wanted to get.

Modding the current pedalboard. Only really using the DOD Meatbox, Tech 21 SansAmp (for slight amp overdrive) and the Boss Tuner these days. May be time to add a true distortion pedal or something else interesting...suggestions?
