Description
The Devons, which employed 8" dual concentric drivers were part of Tannoys classic HPD line of speakers which also included the Eaton (10 inch), Cheviot (12 inch) and Berkeley & Arden (15 inch).
Devons were released around 1975, and feature HPD 315A (White magnet cover) drivers. They found popularity for home use, and in studios as mid field monitors. They offered one less EQ/filter option than the coveted gold line as well, but still offer an energy, and roll off knobs. Energy is a 5 position knob which lets you increase or decrease the high-frequency output across its entire range (1 kHz to 20 kHz). The Roll Off lets asjust the high freq filter/ roll off point.
Some people also tended to upgrade their Devons to larger Tannoy, or Custom made boxes as they felt they were too small for the 8" HPD drivers, and many are happy with them, so that is just up to personal taste, and opinion.
