Critic Reviews

The Ugly Guitar Truth: Ugly Guitar Truth: TC Electronic Eyemaster Metal Distortion

theuglyguitartruth.blogspot.com

The TC Electronic Eyemaster Metal Distortion fails to deliver the brutal metal tones it promises. Despite the hype from TC's polished promotions, the pedal's sound is disappointingly thin and fizzy, lacking the depth expected from a metal distortion unit. Critics compare it unfavorably to the iconic Boss HM-2, noting it sounds more akin to a poorly set MXR Prime Distortion. While TC Electronics is known for quality, this pedal seems like a misstep, possibly due to reboxing Behringer designs or poor amp pairing. Overall, it feels like a limited attempt at capturing the Swedish death metal vibe.

Good but less than great.

If you really want that Boss HM2 tone this will get it for you at a great price. I think that for more money there are better options though. I say this cos I also have a BYOC the Swede pedal and I think the swede sounds a lot more defined. Since I only need one HM2 clone I took the eye master back. But if I ever lost my Swede pedal I'd probably just buy an eye master.

nick_shishkanov

It's good.

I like my distortion, it's very nice and strong at the same time. It sounds very aggressive.

varglikescrispycornflakes

Best budget distortion for metal.

Does good distortion and the HM-2 borderline fuzz that it is famous for.
