Antlion Audio ModMic 4.0 Uni-Directional Review | PCMag

pcmag.com

The Antlion Audio ModMic 4.0 is a clever solution for turning any headphones into a gaming headset, offering good sound quality and a generous amount of accessories. Its clever magnetic mount design allows for easy attachment and removal. However, the fixed microphone cable can be cumbersome to manage, and a headset splitter is required for most gaming systems and mobile devices, which isn't included. Despite these drawbacks, the ModMic serves its purpose well, making it a useful addition for gamers who already have a preferred set of headphones.

Antlion ModMic 4.0 Review & Recording Samples | GamersNexus

gamersnexus.net

The Antlion ModMic 4.0 shines as a superb solution for those wanting to pair high-quality standalone headphones with a versatile boom mic. It delivers clear audio, effectively reducing ambient noise, though it does sound somewhat flat compared to standalone mics like the Samson Meteor. The absence of complex software and its easy installation are big pluses, but the extra wire can be a nuisance, especially for users who frequently detach it. Despite its higher price, it stands out as a top choice for gamers and streamers seeking a mic upgrade without sacrificing their favorite headphones.

Antlion Audio ModMic 4.0 Onni-Directional Review – A comparison with the Uni-Directional ModMic | Totally Dubbed

totallydubbed.net

The Antlion ModMic 4.0 shines with its superior recording quality, easy muting switch, and adaptability to any headphone, making it a great choice for users seeking clarity. However, it picks up more ambient noise compared to its Uni-Directional counterpart and often tangles, suggesting a need for a soundcard to reduce static. Despite these minor setbacks, it's a worthy upgrade for those who value audio precision.

Antlion's lifetime replacement policy further assures reliability. Overall, it's a fantastic addition for audio enthusiasts wanting to enhance their existing headphones.

Sounds amazing, looks great installed

I've attached mine to my Sennheiser HD25's. Originally I considered purchasing a HMD-25 cable and putting it on my HD 25-1 ii's, however after further research, this would be difficult to find, as well as pricey if I did find one. Thus the ultimate solution came to be the AntLion ModMic. This attache mic is well regarded in the gaming community for it's clarity and natural voice reproduction, and "good" noise cancellation. I can vouch for it's sound signature, but can't say much for noise cancellation!

The mounting system is VERY secure, and you won't have a problem with it just randomly falling off, although be careful with how you tug on it as it can pull away easily when being brought down or going up. I really wish the magnets were black like the clasps, but can't be perfect I guess. The cable is slightly too thick to utilize the HD25's cable management, thus forcing the mounting to the right earcup.

Overall a solid product, maybe a little on the expensive side at first glance, but for what you get when you receive it, this is a SOLID purchase if your looking for a simple add-on mic for your expensive headphones.
