"The Snowball is amazing for us to travel the world with, throw it in our suitcase and have with us as part of a mobile studio anywhere we go. The dual capsule gives us versatility to sing with dynamic range and plenty of other settings for us to play with. Any idea we get, we can track it with this mic. Excellent for recording IDs or liners in a pinch. Overall, AMAZING!"
moreX mentioned buying a Snowball microphone after being released from jail in an interview. You can clearly see one in front of him in this picture with him and his friends.
moreMy Blue Snowball USB Mic is a great tool for recording my own voice as well as Skype calling, or on the go use.
moreGreat recording quality at a great price. I use it for everything! Works well with both electric and acoustic guitar. All the songs I've recorded so far have been with this little gem.
The Snowball is incredibly affordable, whilst maintaing a fantastic recording quality. This can fit in my suitcases and backpacks wherever I go, and is perfect for a quick vocal fix, but also works like a dream on other instruments like my acoustic guitars and percussion instruments. Really fantastic value for money, and between the brilliance of its sonic fidelity and the sheer portability of this item, it definitely deserves my 5 stars. Fantastic piece of kit.
All of the songs I have produced in the past year that included vocals were recorded on this little guy, who delivers exceptional sound for it being a USB microphone! I used the Blue Yeti for a while (before an issue with internal wiring caused me to stop using it) and I missed the high quality sound I got with it. I feel like for the price, the Snowball is a much better value and singers and musicians starting off should really consider it.
I hve really gotten into ISB mics for making field recordings to sample, even if the 'field' is only as far as my kitchen.... I used to use an old portable Roland sampler and then for awhile upgraded to one of their Boss Dr Samples, and recently borrowed a friend's Tascam handheld stereo recorder (but didn't love it) but you might as well just pop your laptop open and set up a plug n play microphone in a lot of situations... at this pint I have an adapter cable for my phone in case I want to go wandering around micin hand to capture some unique samples
oh, and is the snowball a condenser or dynamic? it seems like no one makes a USB dynamic
@jimmarchi1 It is a condenser microphone, however, it has three settings: Cardioid, Padded Cardioid, and Omni-directional. I haven't actually tried to record samples using this (pots, pans, etc), but I think you would end up pretty pleased with the results!
This was my first ever microphone and the very tool that got me excited about making music. I credit this mic to sparking a lot of the fire and passion behind who I am today.
I would recommend this to anyone trying to find a microphone out there!
I don't use it much but it's ok for simple recordings I guess? (not ideal for professional shit)
Back in the late 2000s, his hom started hosting an online radio. And this is her microphone of choice, until she quit and gave Charlie.EXE the mic so that he can use it on whatever he wants. So far he used it on FL Studio to record his acoustic guitar and his vocals
It's cheap, but sounds amazing when recording.
It was a gift from my gf, it's the top one in some rankings of usb mics; it has a really good sound, clean and warm; i use REAPER as my DAW, and i have to say that it sounds amazing. You will need a Pop Filter though, because to get a great sound you need to record very close to the mic.
Highly Recommended.
if I'm not mistaken the ball microphones are dynamics in the style of broadcast mics like the Shure SM7 and EV RE20 so its designed to be very close and to get smacked with a lot of SPL, but it should produce an intimate vocal sound with little-to-no room bleed... its also an dieal choice for loud, wide bandwidth sources like guitar amps or kicks drums ;-)
Its a great production microphone for speaking in videos and with friends. However the microphone isn't a music quality professional mic so even adding a pop filter wont do much to make it pick up vocals well.
Great quality Buy One!!!
Definitely great for new rappers or if your slighty new to rap
I legit use this mic for everything. It's even got a switch for multiple uses. I even use this not just for music but for YouTube as well.
I do not use this for music production in any of my studio rooms but I use it for conferencing and the such.
