Blackstar Studio 10 6L6 10W 1x12W Review – Guitars For Idiots

guitarsforidiots.com

Blackstar's Studio 10 6L6 is a solid choice for players seeking classic American tones in a compact package. With its 10 watts and 1x12 Celestion speaker, it delivers bright, clear sounds, especially with single coils. However, its drive channel can sound muddy, particularly with neck pickups, and the lack of a three-band EQ limits tonal versatility. While the built-in reverb is decent, it doesn't match the depth of more premium options. Overall, this amp offers impressive value for its price, making it an excellent fit for budget-conscious guitarists craving vintage vibes, though it may not fully satisfy those looking for extensive tonal control.

My first valve amp

I'm happy with the amps sound. I like to keep things simple and this is a really simple amp to use. Use the ISF switch to change between British and American sound, set volume and your away. I use mine for home use and give it a push with a BB Preamp at low ish volumes (set at 2) Its 10 watts get loud too! Only downside for me upto now is that from time to time I get a crackle through the speaker but a swift palm to the side of the amp usually does the trick. The power valve somehow dislodges itself? Great cleans and sounds great when pushed with pedals. I don't use the dirty channel much as there is too much of a volume increase. The digital built in distortion is nice but not true valves being pushed.
