Description

The Crazy Tube Circuits Unobtanium is a powerhouse pedal that seamlessly blends legendary overdrive with amp-like tonal bliss, making it a versatile tool for any guitarist seeking rich, dynamic soundscapes. This pedal combines two iconic sounds—the K-style overdrive circuit with germanium diodes on the right and the D-style amp-in-a-box on the left—offering a comprehensive range of tones from smooth sustain to crunchy overdrive.

With its ability to operate internally at 18V DC, the Unobtanium delivers more headroom and a tube-like response, ensuring your guitar tone remains vibrant and articulate. The pedal's flexibility is further enhanced by its passive serial effects loop, allowing you to integrate additional pedals seamlessly. True bypass design with high-quality relays means your signal stays pristine when the pedal is disengaged.

On the right side, explore various tonal textures with controls for Gain, Volume, and Treble, along with switches for Buffer/True and Stock/Mod, which can shift from original clipping to extended headroom. The left side offers a more nuanced approach with Gain, Volume, Tone, and Emphasis controls, plus SSS and ODS switches to toggle between clean, transparent compression or elevated mid frequencies with harmonic overtones.

Crazy Tube Circuits Unobtainium review | Guitar World

guitarworld.com

This dual-drive pedal delivers stunning tones reminiscent of the revered Klon Centaur and Dumble amps, offering versatility that ranges from transparent boosts to rich overdrive. Its compact design houses an effects loop and external footswitching options, making it a practical choice for any guitarist. While the review highlights its exceptional sound quality, it notably lacks any criticism, suggesting that it may not be suitable for those seeking a purely budget-friendly option. Overall, the Crazy Tube Circuits Unobtanium stands out as a must-have for tone enthusiasts.

Crazy Tube Circuits Unobtanium review

guitar.com

The Crazy Tube Circuits Unobtanium is a cleverly designed dual overdrive pedal that skillfully merges the coveted tones of a Klon Centaur and a Dumble amplifier. With a user-friendly layout and an effects loop for added versatility, it delivers rich, creamy overdrives that will appeal to tone enthusiasts. While the Klon side captures the essence of its legendary predecessor, it lacks the punch of some competitors, and the mod switch offers limited impact. On the Dumble side, users can expect a smooth, amp-like quality, although the tonal differences between settings may not be as pronounced as hoped. Overall, this pedal provides a compelling option for players seeking high-end tones without the exorbitant price tag of the originals, making it a great addition to any pedalboard.

Great Overdrive Pedal

Very flexible. Especially the effect loop is perfect for gain stacking. You‘re getting two great pedals in one enclosure.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

I prefer the SSS with quite low gain and let the overdrive(s) push the input.
