Eventide Blackhole Review - Premier Guitar

premierguitar.com

The Eventide Blackhole Reverb Plugin impresses with its expansive, organic reverb sounds and intuitive interface, making it a creative powerhouse for musicians. Its streamlined design allows for easy use, with unique features like the "Gravity" control for reverse reverb adding depth. While it's on the pricier side at $279, its ability to inspire new musical ideas makes it a worthwhile investment for those seeking innovative soundscapes. The only downside is its cost, but for those looking to explore ambient textures, the Blackhole is a stellar choice.

Eventide Blackhole review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

Eventide's Blackhole Reverb Plugin is a treasure trove for soundscape enthusiasts, offering an impressive range of ambient sounds that are both weird and wonderful. Its intuitive design allows for easy use, with the option for deep edits via bundled software, and the inclusion of an expression pedal adds further control. While its premium price might deter some, the quality of reverb it delivers justifies the cost. This isn't just a typical reverb; it's a creative tool that reshapes how you think about sound space. For adventurous musicians, Blackhole is a stellar choice.

Eventide Blackhole

soundonsound.com

Eventide's Blackhole Reverb Plugin is a sonic marvel for those seeking expansive, otherworldly soundscapes, rather than traditional reverb effects. Its unique features, like the Gravity knob and morphing ribbon controller, allow for creative sound design, making it perfect for experimental music or film scoring. While it excels at creating vast, immersive environments, it may disappoint those looking for conventional room or plate emulations. Overall, a powerful tool for adventurous musicians and producers.

Eventide Blackhole Reverb Review - Bedroom Producers Blog

bedroomproducersblog.com

Eventide Blackhole Reverb Plugin excels in creating expansive, lush soundscapes, making it a dream for ambient and experimental musicians. Its "Ribbon Control" and "Hot Switch" offer impressive real-time manipulation, while the low CPU usage allows for multiple instances without strain. However, it struggles with smaller, more subtle spaces, and the "Gravity" knob's low-frequency attenuation can be excessive. Sound quality remains stellar, though, with unique features like reverse reverb and extensive pre-delay options. While not a versatile all-rounder, it's an exceptional tool for those who think big and aim for vast sonic spaces.

Eventide Blackhole Plugin Review: Nail Your Spacey Reverb Sound - Produce Like A Pro

producelikeapro.com

Eventide's Blackhole Reverb Plugin is a sonic voyage into otherworldly reverb landscapes. With origins in the classic DSP4000, it stands out for its lush, infinite reverberations and versatile capabilities, from ambient washes to subtle shimmers. While the interface might not win aesthetic awards, its user-friendly design ensures ease of use, making it accessible for both complex and traditional reverb applications. The plugin includes unique features like the Gravity control and over 50 presets, providing creative flexibility. Though not free, its current discounted price offers an enticing opportunity to add a piece of Eventide's storied audio legacy to your musical toolkit.

Love it!

Blackhole is a super powerful reverb plugin. Again, I got this when it was on sale on Plugin Boutique, and i've just been using it so much. While SpaceBlender is good for making atmospheres, this is my all-purpose reverb.

moogbadger

Lovely but usually overpriced.

This is a very high-quality algo reverb with some innovative performace features and controls (like 'Gravity', which seems to change the 'direction' of the reverb). However, lovely though it is, it's well worth waiting until it's on sale. It can be had for £30 or so then, in contrast to its usual price of £160. £160 is far too much to pay for what's effectively one patch from the Eventide Space or H9! It also uses the PACE iLok system for verification, which is a pain in the arse.

Easily creates these immense, over-the-top, weird reverbs full of character.

I tried and immediately bought this plug-in during sales promo for less than 40€ and it was well worth it. It easily creates these immense, over-the-top, weird reverbs full of character which you can here in Sci-Fi movies in space. It can even morph between two settings. Ideal for ambient music or to alienate one specific track/instrument. I wouldn't recommend is as a generic bread & butter reverb. I've been told ValhallaDSP has a similar plug-in for less than 50€ but I have not compared both myself... I would't never, ever pay the suggested 199€ RRP for it but for less than 40€, it's a real no-brainer.

Not my cup of tea

The existence of plugins like this is something really really useful, this made me realize that i never would spend so much money to buy ultra hyped gear like the Eventide Space, there is not even one single preset in this plugin that can be useful for me,don´t get me wrong,i love atmospheric reverbs, cosmic and deep sounds to create ambient tracks but i prefer a plugin like the Valhalla Supermassive every day. Just not my cup of tea.

“Eventide products have been a part of my studio for nearly 15 years now. They have made some of the most sophisticated effects processors I have ever heard. I have used them on countless records and sound design projects. The sonic depth and quality of these machines is unreal.” Also, below, there is a Blackhole linked to his name.
