  • For those experiencing excessive brightness, replacing 1meg pots with 500k pots is recommended to balance the tone better.

    Source
  • One user with grounding issues suggests that improper string grounding can cause excessive hum, especially in poorly powered environments.

    Source
  • Users are divided on the V-Mod II pickups, noting they resemble hot Strat pickups rather than traditional Jazzmaster tones, particularly when played clean.

    Source

Build quality

  • Some owners report significant quality control issues, including dents on the neck and cracks, even in brand-new models.

    Source

Fender American Pro Jazzmaster & Jaguar: First Impressions and In-Depth Review | Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar

wordpress.com

The Fender American Professional Jazzmaster impresses with its vibrant Mystic Seafoam finish and robust build quality. The new "Deep C" neck profile and "narrow-tall" frets enhance playability, and the sound is lively through its V-Mod pickups. However, the placement of the pickup selector is inconvenient, and the string spacing issue might necessitate a bridge swap for some. Despite these quirks, the guitar offers excellent value for its price and remains a fun instrument to play, making it a worthy contender for those bridging the gap between entry-level and vintage models.

positive

American Whoa: The American Pro Jazzmaster’s Peculiar Pickups | Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar

wordpress.com

While the Fender American Professional Jazzmaster boasts a lightweight, solid feel and stable tuning, it falls short in delivering the quintessential Jazzmaster sound. The V-Mod pickups, resembling Strat coils, stray from the traditional Jazzmaster tone, leaving enthusiasts wanting. The lack of a true Jazzmaster pickup experience is a letdown, especially at a $1500 price point. Despite its enjoyable playability, the guitar's sound is more akin to a conventional single-coil, lacking the depth and dynamic range expected. Fender's attempt to modernize this iconic model results in a compromise, requiring further investment for purists seeking authentic Jazzmaster tones.

negative

Fender American Professional Jazzmaster - Guitars - Harmony Central

harmonycentral.com

The Fender American Professional Jazzmaster makes a welcome return with modern updates that enhance its playability and sound. The new V-Mod pickups deliver a fuller, brighter tone, while Mustang-style saddles improve stability. The guitar retains its classic offset design but simplifies controls by removing the rhythm circuit, which may disappoint purists. The revised neck and fretboard offer smoother playing for solos and bends, though players with smaller hands might find the neck profile challenging. Despite minor limitations, the Jazzmaster's refined features and improved stability make it an appealing choice for contemporary musicians.

positive

Fender American Professional Jazzmaster & Jaguar

guitar.com

Fender's American Professional Jazzmaster offers a modern twist on a classic, addressing past quirks with smart design updates. Its stunning aesthetics, like the Mystic Seafoam finish, appeal to the eyes, while practical changes—such as a more stable bridge, improved pickups, and accessible truss rod—enhance playability. However, traditionalists may miss the iconic Jazzmaster sound, as the new V-Mod pickups and design tweaks lead to a sound that is punchier and less characteristically "Jazzmaster." This guitar caters more to those transitioning from Strats and Teles than die-hard offset fans, making it a lovely but not classic choice.

Fender American Professional Jazzmaster

If you're looking for a modern take on the fender Jazzmaster, I highly suggest this guitar! Between the updated pickups, neck profile and lack of rhythm circuit this may not be the guitar for anyone looking for a more vintage correct Jazzmaster, nonetheless this thing sounds amazing and it's tonally different enough to warrant trying it out. Overall it's definitely one of the best sounding jazz masters fender currently makes.

"I have a Fender American Professional Jazzmaster – it’s the newest guitar that I own. It was actually a gift from Fender, which I’m really stoked about. Normally I play a 1968 Vox Viper which has built-in effects and is a hollowbody, so this is kind of different. But it’s good for touring because it’s very versatile & reliable. I like the Fender because you can throw it around and swing it, and it’s smaller. It feels a little more comfortable playing it. I love Fender in general, and I also play a Fender amp. I usually play with really treble-y tones, and this guitar can achieve that – but also has warmer tones as well. I was really inspired by The Cramps, The Jesus & Mary Chain - almost ear-piercing guitar. I usually just turn the bass & treble up" Gear interview

S/o to @jasonmklein [Jason M. Klein from Artist Marketing at Fender] and @fender for the new JM. Never had one with a maple neck - pretty bitey little fella. I think this is the Am Pro II model. Trem stays in and the bridge is updated. Perfect, now for some sloppy guitar playing.

"The Jazzmaster, I always thought was like the super Fender when you get aggressive it gets really aggressive when you get clean it's really clean. It's two parts of my brain, one wants to master the instrument and be beautiful and lush and huge, and another part the crazy, aggressive noises that a guitar can make. I don't think I can comfortably describe my style. The guitar is like my voice and when I'm playing I want my head to like, remove from my body, and kind of get wrapped up in the sound. My relationship with the guitar is kind of like my platonic life partner that never leaves me. It comes out of my voice. It is my voice. It's an extension of what I want to hear. If you don't like that sound there's like probably something wrong with you. You know? Like you might wanna go see a doctor."
