Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about KRK VXT6 Active Studio Monitor.

Comparisons

  • The VXT6's are noted to have a bright sound with limited low-end compared to models like the Adam A7x and Event 2020BAS.

    Source
  • For those considering alternatives, the Genelec 8030a is praised for its stereo imaging and overall sound quality, suggesting it as a worthy option for comparison.

    Source
  • The Yamaha HS7s are often preferred over KRK monitors for their flatter sound, making them a better choice for mixing and producing music.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • For music not heavily reliant on bass, the VXT6's brightness may be suitable, but adding a subwoofer is recommended to enhance low frequencies.

    Source

    Source
  • Owners advise using smaller monitors in small rooms to avoid bass issues, which can cause natural compression and reflection problems.

    Source
  • It's recommended to avoid using 8" monitors like the VXT8 in small rooms unless paired with a subwoofer to manage low frequencies effectively.

    Source

User experience

  • Owners of KRK VXT6 monitors often find the high frequencies overly bright and lacking in low-end, suggesting a potential need for room adjustments or additional bass support.

    Source
  • Some owners find the VXT6 monitors inspiring to work with, despite poorer translation compared to Yamaha monitors, making them more suitable for non-critical listening tasks.

    Source
  • Owners report that the VXT series is robust and capable of handling heavy use over long periods, making them reliable for intense sessions.

    Source

Features and functionality

  • The VXT6 can reach over 100db without a subwoofer, highlighting their power and suggesting careful consideration of room size for optimal use.

    Source

Mods and upgrades

  • Adding a KRK S8.4 subwoofer enhances the VXT monitors significantly by relieving the load on the main speakers and providing deeper bass.

Flawless

I love these monitors. I was originally mixing on only headphones until I got these and the difference in my mixes is like night and day.

Tanks. Great Monitors.

Pretty well-balanced sound, might be a little mids heavy vs. the highs though. Lending to a slightly less "bright" sound than you might be used to with a Yamaha. That's purely subjective coming from me though, I'm not a scientist. Less bass heavy than the KRK Rokits. Classic KRK Yellow cones, black curvy bodies. These things can go LOUD too. At the end of the day, it takes time to learn your monitors - the way they reproduce sounds vs. the way you mix - and I've had these for ten years, so I know them like the back of my hand and I can get well balanced mixes out of them. Also, now that I think about it, I don't think they even make these anymore.

floris_dijkers

Great heavy sound!

I got this friends since the beginning of my produce-career, and I think KRK have still one of the best nearfield-monitors ever made. Maybe it is a little expensive, but it sounds really nice, deep and punchy at the same time. It has a good deep bass, if you want it harder you need to buy a KRK subwoofer, but this 2 fullranges is more than fair enough for the genre and quality I make. Of course, there are Genelec speakers that costs around 14.000 euros, and than you maybe got a much cleaner sound, but I am just a intermediate producer, and i haven't the money and capacity's for that. So i'm really happy with this ones.

jowst

There are better monitors, but not for this price.

When you ask about what to choose when you are bying your first (or second) studio monitors, 40% will say KRK, and 60% will say that KRK is shit. But the VXT-series ar WAY better then the Rockit-series. Those once saying that KRK is shit, probably has their experience with KRK Rockit.

Great sounding and reliable

Had these from the very first release. They are a great sounding monitor with a touch of hi-fi. They have never blown and hardly been clipped or had the limiter set off. If you can still get a pair cheap, get them!!!!

Balanced sound with clear highs and controlled lows

Against common opinion, I think KRKs sound great. These aren't too dominating in the low end and have brilliant high end clarity

drummmer22

Clear sound

I just bought them after some Yahama HS7, and its a big difference of clarity and of high frequency.
