Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about Marshall Haze Combo.

Comparisons

  • Some owners find the Haze amps to have less gain compared to the Silver Jubilee and more than the Marshall Origin, but less than a DSL.

    Source
  • The JCM900, noted for being made in England, is recommended over the Haze for its superior tone and build quality.

    Source
  • Switching to Alnico pickups, like those on an Epiphone LP Slash Signature, enhances the amp's crispness compared to standard Epiphone HB pickups.

    Source

User experience

  • A few users describe the Haze amps as sounding brittle and harsh, lacking the smooth, velvety gain found in Silver Jubilees.

    Source
  • Some users caution against the Haze due to reliability issues unless you have amp repair skills or upgrade plans.

    Source
  • Users find the amp's output too powerful for bedroom use; a JHS Black Box pedal can serve as a passive attenuator.

    Source

Value and pricing

  • With a $200 price tag, the Haze amp can be a good deal if verified to be in good working condition.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • The Haze is perceived to not deliver the classic Marshall roar at moderate volume levels as effectively as the Class 5 amps.

    Source
  • The Haze might appeal to Marshall and Blackstar enthusiasts looking for a smaller amp to manage in non-studio settings.

    Source
  • The amp pairs well with Marshall’s Jack Hammer pedal for high gain and Boss SD-1 for boosting tones.

    Source

Build quality

  • The Haze is now discontinued, suggesting potential challenges in finding replacement parts or support for repairs.

    Source

Mods and upgrades

  • Owners recommend swapping out the stock speaker and EL34 tubes to enhance performance and reliability.

    Source
  • Owners have successfully improved the muddy sound on both channels with easily found online modifications.

    Source

Features and functionality

  • The built-in reverb is generally well-received, though other effects are often criticized for lacking quality.

Smooth and Mild For Marshall

Two channels clean and the classic Marshall gain channel you can expect. with a bright and a boost switch. bass, mid, trebel, and presence. Coupled with some emulated reverd and effects. The amp is loud and rocking. Clean at lower volumes and breaks not as much at higher volumes. I have used the amp from Jazz Gigs, to shows with my Hard rock band. The haze combo does well and keeps up even in larger rooms.

R

Main amp, only on clean sound, use chorus on occasion.
