A hidden gem of a pedal!

So I was about to buy a Boss DS-1 from my buddy when I discovered this pedal at my local Guitar Center for crazy cheap.

I plugged it in with a Boss SD-1 they had in stock and just played as close as I could to my actual pedalboard settings and then some to see if they would play nice with each other.

I was blown away. This thing is absolute witchcraft - it turns a clean Fender amplifier into a snarling British rock monster. I've seen bits about this pedal and how it evokes the sounds of a cranked Plexi. While I haven't played a Plexi, I would wager that this pedal gets very close. Yes, it's a reskinned Distortion III, but at the price point it's at, it is the anti-Boss DS-1. Warm and wooly on low gain settings, and an absolute fire-breathing beast when cranked.

It’s not a re-branded Distortion III. It’s just a stripped down version of the 78’ Bad Ass distortion. It’s literally a DS-1 clone. But better.

Basically a stripped down version of the 78’ Bad Ass distortion. It’s 100% a Boss DS-1 clone. But I like it better. It doesn’t have as much sag (the DS-1 often overcompresses on low notes), better tone control, and much more volume output. Get this instead of the Boss.

Simple, great, nothing much to talk about.

A killer fuzzy distortion. Very simple, very easy, very fun. Can’t really say much else. Not totally sure if it’s this pedal or another part of my rig but I’ve noticed a lot of humming and buzz lately.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

Output cranked, Distortion cranked, tone middle.

I love it.

I use it for my bass but it gets the job done. It's simple n easy to get the sound I want. I heard it was discontinued , so it's a rare find nowadays.

A cheap pedal that sounds huge

I got this pedal for christmas and it is amazing. It gives you an 80s rock sound (which is what i look for) and it's not expensive.

Solid distortion

I haven't used this pedal much, but when I do, it's great! Set the right tone with the 3 knobs, and it really delivers for a good solo that needs a lot of attack! Easy option for beginner guitarists looking for a crunchy-but-clear sound.

Yeah! Exactly! I was looking for this kind of distortion pedal! There are no distortion pedal sounds like this! Well, this distortion is made for the vintage distortion, and I guess people more prefer modern sounding distortion than classic ones these days.
