Critic Reviews

Presonus Firestudio Mobile

soundonsound.com

The Presonus Firestudio Mobile is a compact powerhouse, offering excellent audio quality and a remarkable array of inputs for its size. Built for durability with a robust metal casing, it's perfect for mobile recording. The inclusion of 48V phantom power, even when bus-powered, adds to its versatility. While the S/PDIF and MIDI connections via a breakout cable are a minor inconvenience, the interface's functionality and competitive pricing outweigh this drawback. Its slight latency may deter some, but for most, it's a high-quality, portable solution that stands strong in a crowded market.

Review: Presonus Firestudio Mobile — AudioTechnology

audiotechnology.com

The Presonus Firestudio Mobile delivers a compact yet robust audio interface experience, boasting a commendable range of I/O options and excellent build quality. Designed with portability in mind, its small footprint and plug-and-play functionality make it an appealing choice for mobile recording. The XMAX preamps provide a smooth, understated sound, though some may miss a bit of air and midrange presence. While the unit's side design limits upright positioning and lacks output calibration options, its intuitive software and seamless integration with DAWs offer a significant advantage. Ideal for beginners and home studio enthusiasts, the Firestudio Mobile is a reliable, feature-packed option in a crowded market.

Lots of features

This replaces my old Cakewalk (Roland) UA25-EX. It has 8 analog line inputs, two of which have preamps. 8 track simultaneous recording through firewire, which is apparently slightly less laggy than standard USB 2.0 interfaces. You can chain two of these for 16 simultaneous inputs, which I may do one day.
