Features and functionality

  • The AudioBox iTwo is recognized immediately by iPads and operates with a common USB-Lightning cable, offering self-powering when connected.

    Source
  • The AudioBox iTwo does not charge the iPad during use, necessitating a camera kit with a charging port for continuous power.

    Source

Comparisons

  • Considered alongside the Roland UM-1 + camera kit combo, which is a cheaper alternative but lacks audio input capabilities for external processing.

Critic Reviews

PreSonus AudioBox iOne & iTwo

soundonsound.com

The PreSonus AudioBox iTwo impresses with its sturdy build, intuitive software, and seamless Mac, PC, and iOS compatibility, making it a versatile choice for home studios. The inclusion of the Studio One Artist DAW is a notable plus, offering an array of useful plug-ins and features without the limitations typical of entry-level software. However, the iPad integration is marred by battery drain issues during extended sessions, and the headphone output could be more powerful. Although its preamps and converters aren't top-tier, they provide satisfactory performance for home recording. Overall, the AudioBox iTwo is a solid and affordable option, though those seeking higher-end audio quality might look elsewhere.

PreSonus AudioBox iTwo review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The PreSonus AudioBox iTwo is a solid, workmanlike interface offering respectable sound quality at a reasonable price. It's versatile, supporting Mac, PC, and iOS, though it requires a USB power adapter for iOS. While it doesn't outshine its competition, it provides essential features like direct monitoring and separate level controls for main and headphone outs. Ideal for budget-conscious musicians looking for reliable performance without breaking the bank.

Review of the PreSonus AudioBox iTwo : A Versatile Audio Interface for iOS and Mac/PC - Audiofanzine

audiofanzine.com

The PreSonus AudioBox iTwo is a versatile audio interface that shines with its cross-platform compatibility, offering solid performance on both iOS and Mac/PC. Its standout features include dual mic preamps, intuitive controls, and a robust build, all for a reasonable price. The inclusion of Studio One Artist software sweetens the deal, adding significant value. However, the need for AC power when using iOS devices and external MIDI controllers limits its mobile potential. Despite this, the iTwo delivers impressive sound quality and functionality, making it a commendable option for musicians seeking flexibility and reliability in a compact form.

Review: Presonus Audiobox iTwo — AudioTechnology

audiotechnology.com

Presonus’ AudioBox iTwo is a versatile audio interface that elevates demo recording with its seamless wireless transfer capacity from iPad to DAW, making it a standout for musicians on the go. While lacking effects in its Capture app and only offering trickle charge for iPads, it compensates with class-compliant USB connectivity and MIDI input for iPad synth control, making it a solid choice for home studios and live performances. The included Studio One Artist software enhances its value proposition, although its limitations on external plug-ins might deter some advanced users. Overall, the iTwo strikes a balance between functionality and cost-effectiveness.

A good upgrade from my old fasttrack

Has served my purposes well. Get a nice low latency, a great soundstage when used with even a decent microphone, headphone monitoring that doesn't kill the outs to the main monitors and a decent amount of control. Can get a bit noisy with instruments plugged in (though a lot of that could be environmental on my end, it has followed me across three different living arrangements and still shows that tendency), and the volume knob can get quite fidgety as you hit higher levels (and seems to go full on before it actually reaches the end of its travel), but how often does one need to dime their input anyway?

A little restricting

A good ai but if used on ipad it can be a little restricting in which software to use. Other than that its a nice piece of gear for home use

Z

It's working.

I don't know if it's my lack of knowledge on how this is properly used or if it's just not very good. I get a tonnnnn of feedback when I plug in my guitar. I can barely crank dial 2, otherwise I get a lot of noise. It works great with my condenser mics. May be user error on the guitar side. :/

The best in the price range

This is the best audio interface you could buy at this price range. The audio delivered is of pristine quality and I would probably use it for like 3 years, even if I earn money to buy a better one. I just like the look of this lol, jk.

Small but good

This is my travel Interface. easy to use and good sounding!

It works

Honestly, it's kinda whatever. I've used both this and the Focusrite equivalent, and neither seem like anything particularly special, but they do the job their tasked with.
