Hellbender Review: I don't like carrying around a huge amp, and this pedal... | Rothwell | Guitar Effects | Reviews @ Ultimate-Guitar.Com

ultimate-guitar.com

The Rothwell Hellbender earns high praise for its ability to replicate the iconic sound of a cranked Marshall Plexi, making it a must-have for lovers of that classic tone. While it excels with rock and blues, the pedal's occasional loss of low end on certain amps and slight noise at high gain settings are noted drawbacks. Despite these minor issues, the Hellbender's impressive sound and ease of use make it a standout choice, especially for those who prefer not lugging around heavy amps. Reliable and durable, it’s a clear winner for the reviewer.

Holy shit.

This gives your tone serious balls. It can get touchy if you're using it to push something like a fuzz pedal but it makes everything clear, and huge. Also tracks amazingly well with bass.

I would think you want the fuzz in front of the hell bender since the hellbender is a Marshall-flavored ampinabox....

I've been using it for bass and I go bass->hellbender->russian muff->amp and it gives me the most insane tone. I initially tried it that way and it didn't have the same effect.

jimmarchi1

nah, it wouldn't.... all bets are off using guitar effects on bass though
