Sonuus Wahoo Pedal Review - Premier Guitar

premierguitar.com

The Sonuus Wahoo pedal is a robust and versatile tool that blends the analog charm of vintage-voiced wahs with the flexibility of digital controls. Musicians will appreciate its wide range of high-quality wah, filter, and modulation effects, and the ability to store up to 100 presets. The pedal's precise sensor technology and top-notch build quality are standout features, making it a worthy addition to any pedalboard despite its larger size and $349 price tag. However, the deeper wave-tweaking functions may require a learning curve for some users. Overall, it's a solid investment for those seeking expansive sonic possibilities.

Sonuus Wahoo

soundonsound.com

Whether you're after traditional or avant-garde wah effects, the Sonuus Wahoo delivers. With digitally controlled analogue filters and innovative pitch-tracking, it offers a plethora of sonic possibilities, from vintage warmth to synth-like textures. The editor software is a standout, simplifying complex adjustments. However, without it, programming can feel tedious, and the envelope follower may not be as forgiving as desired. Overall, the Wahoo's blend of analogue sound and digital flexibility makes it a must-try for adventurous guitarists and bassists.

Flexible filter pedal that's analog in sound but digital in controls

There really isn't a thing this pedal can't due with the editing software, but unless you understand UFOs, LFOs etc. this might be a little over your head (like mine!). There are some great presets and overall its a unique pedal that has 99 storable slots and a setlist option. The wah sections are interesting but not using fasel or halo inductors cost this a bit. Cool pedal but may not suit everyone.

The final compliment on the gear front is the SONUUS WAHOO. It’s their extraordinary wah pedal that is truly 21st Century, in every respect but the great retro sounds it produces. It’s all analog audio components, but controlled by a digital “front end”. Not only will it give you all those classic wah sounds, but an on-board envelope follower and specialised filters for frequency pinpointing bring new dimensions to those who like to take it to the limit. The geeky nature of the designers also brings you a computer interface (USB) where you can chart out the freqs you want (or don’t want) on screen, and drag the curves any which way. Coolness; I’m lovin’ t!
