Description
Wampler Tumnus Deluxe Overdrive Pedal is a premium musical tool that takes the iconic overdrive effect to new heights. This pedal retains the clarity, punch, and detailed breakup of the original Tumnus but introduces a level of tonal flexibility previously unseen in this style of drive. With active bass and mid controls as well as a treble control, this pedal offers a variety of ways to shape your tone to suit your rig.
The Tumnus Deluxe is far more than just another clone. Whether you're using it to boost a driven amp or another pedal, as a standalone overdrive, or as a constant tonal sweetener, this pedal's wide-ranging controls make it incredibly versatile.
One of the standout features of this pedal is the buffered or true bypass switch. The buffer in the Tumnus Deluxe is so good, it might enhance your tone whether the pedal is on or off. However, if you prefer the clean signal path of true bypass operation, achieving that uncolored sound is as easy as flipping a switch.
Key Features:
- Iconic overdrive tones with deep tone control
- Active bass and mid controls for tonal flexibility
- Convenient top-mounted jacks
- High-headroom output suitable for use as a boost
- Normal/Hot switch for two levels of grit
- Equipped with a Buffer switch for buffered or true bypass operation
- Made in the USA by Wampler, renowned for quality construction and attention to detail

A Versatile Tone-Shaping Powerhouse
The Wampler Tumnus Deluxe immediately impressed us with its solid build quality and design. We appreciated the thoughtful placement of input/output jacks on the back, saving precious pedalboard real estate.
The controls are where this pedal truly shines. We found the 3-band EQ to be incredibly versatile, allowing us to dial in everything from subtle warmth to searing leads. The switchable buffer and "hot" mode for added gain are welcome additions.
Sound-wise, the Tumnus Deluxe delivers in spades. In our experience, it enhances your tone without drastically altering it, adding a pleasing harmonic richness and clarity. We were impressed by its ability to work well with various guitars and amps, though we noticed the treble could get a bit harsh with certain setups.
For us, the Tumnus Deluxe strikes an excellent balance between the coveted Klon sound and modern versatility. While it may not be an exact Klon, we found it to be a more than worthy alternative at a fraction of the price.
We think this pedal is perfect for guitarists seeking a transparent overdrive with extensive tone-shaping capabilities.

Very powerful versatile klone
This version of the klone family is more tonally versatile than most. Also has lots of output, as a boost would work great, I use it as a drive pedal, Its a hard clipper driven hard but I use it for light to medium gain. It’s got a mid push, but not as extreme as a TS. Great tone controls and great sound!

This would be the one to keep...
If I had to give up on all my pedals - and I have more than 50 today - and keep only one, I would keep this guy. It sounds amazing, I cannot get a bad sound out of it and it sounds amazing on my strats (love strats) when I lower the tone knob to 10/20%.

Johnny Bond uses the Catalinbread Echorec pedal for a second type of delay during performances, as seen in the Imgur gallery "CATB Live - Maida Vale 2019 - The Balance." The pedal is located on the bottom row, second from the left, next to the Space Echo, and is activated during "Longshot" and various verse sections. Please update the item to reflect this.

Guitarist Jun Han (준한) confirmed the use of the Wampler Tumnus V1 pedal on February 27th through JYP Bubble. He shared that he purchased the effector to use as a booster for achieving a harder sound rather than a clean sound while playing his guitar. Jun Han also provided an image of the pedal, referring to it as his "effector friend," and commented, "the centaur is cute right?"
