Description
The ADAM Audio A5X Powered Studio Monitor is your ticket to pristine audio clarity, whether you're crafting the next chart-topping hit or mixing in a home studio. Revered for its X-ART tweeter, the A5X delivers a transparency in sound that is hard to match, capturing every nuance with breathtaking detail. The X-ART technology, a hallmark of ADAM Audio, ensures a distortion-free high-frequency response, extending up to an impressive 50kHz.
Beneath the sleek exterior, the A5X is powered by dual amplifiers—50W for the woofer and 50W for the tweeter—providing a dynamic range capable of reaching a maximum SPL of 110dB. The 5.5" carbon/Rohacell/glass fiber woofer offers a tight and punchy low end down to 50Hz, making it an agile performer for both nearfield monitoring and full-range setups with a subwoofer.
Its innovative Stereolink feature simplifies stereo configurations, allowing you to control the volume of both monitors from a single speaker. This makes the A5X a perfect fit for desk setups where space and ease of use are paramount. Plus, with front-panel controls for power and volume, the A5X is as user-friendly as it is sophisticated.

Incredible response and quality-to-price ratio.
The choice of monitors is a subjective and personal thing, because much like different speaker models, the set of ears on each one of us has a different response curve.
However, some things can be stated to be objectively true: These things can put out much, much more powerful and defined low end (apart from the sub frequencies that nothing of this size could physically reproduce) than they have any right to, and I'm not really aware of many others in the same size class (not to mention price class) that could match it. Personally I also love the clarity of the X-ART tweeter.
A5X's have been my choice of home monitors for what must be over 7 years now. When first selecting them I spent 3 hours comparing roughly 10 sets of monitors until settling on the Adams. It's like they were made for my ears, or my ears for them. You can also find an electronics professional teardown video on YouTube and see that, apart from the sound definition, the build quality really is quite superb.
My pair has survived several house moves and hits and knocks, and only recently did the right one start giving out a bit of a hiss. This is after 6 years from a €300 speaker! I don't think I'm ever moving away from Adam's (higher-end) series if they keep this quality up. Love 'em.

Accurate yet flattering
After cycling through a number of speakers I purchased the Adam A5Xs and they are definitely good speakers.
For $500 each these sound pretty close to something from genelec or barefoot in terms of sound quality. The stereo image is some of the best I've ever heard on a speaker to date and there was something really special about the way the AMT projected sound. I did have some translation and low frequency response issues but they were very minor and I could easily mix on these if I had to.
I ultimately got rid of these because I needed something with a little more fidelity but for the average listener or producer, these are the perfect balance between fun and accurate.
Quite descent, gets things done.
You get what you pay for really, they do not really have a big bottom and you have to learn them and reference a lot but the midrange compete with some of the $2000 sets out there

Mentioned in a review about Ultimate Studio Monitor Stands: "You get what you pay for and these are expensive for a reason. They're the right size for my Adam A5X (My guess is they'd be good enough for something up to the size of an A7X). Not sure if they would hold something bigger, but if you have little heavy monsters like the A5X, go for this one. It'll allow you to point those tweeters straight to your ears!"
