Review of Aune AR5000: a worthy contender – unheardlab.com

unheardlab.com

Aune’s first serious swing at open-back headphones lands cleanly: the AR5000 is comfortable, easy to drive, broadly well-tuned, and delivers a pleasingly neutral-warm balance with excellent sub-bass extension, realistic mids, and a wider-than-HD600 sense of space. It’s an easy listen that still feels monitor-minded. The catch? It can also come off a little too polite. Bass is more soft than punchy, clarity and dynamics are merely decent for the price, stage depth and imaging aren’t as sharp as the angled drivers suggest, and the upper treble can turn splashy on brighter recordings. So no, this isn’t a category killer—and seasoned listeners may still prefer the HD600’s more natural vocal timbre or a planar’s superior technical chops. But at $320, it’s a strong, sensible alternative to the usual Sennheiser/Beyerdynamic suspects.

Review - Aune AR5000

achoreviews.com

Aune’s first headphone effort lands as a smart, likable all-rounder: handsome, comfortable, easy to drive, and tuned with a balanced, front-row presentation that makes live recordings especially engaging. Bass is clean and controlled rather than thunderous, vocals are generally clear, and the treble stays smooth and unfussy. The catch? It can sound a bit cool through the mids, some female vocals edge toward harshness, some male vocals get slightly buried in busy mixes, and dense low-end passages expose limits in detail retrieval. There’s also no case, and bassheads or summit-fi obsessives probably won’t be wowed. Still, for under 300€, this is framed as a sensible, well-built open-back that gets far more right than wrong.

Aune AR5000 Headphones + S17 Pro Headphones Amplifier Review - Fit, Comfort & Audio Performance | TechPowerUp

techpowerup.com

Aune’s AR5000 lands as a comfy, thoughtfully tuned open-back with a warm, relaxed balance that avoids harshness and makes long sessions easy. Channel matching is excellent, mids are the star, and vocals, strings, and classical fare come through naturally with solid imaging and a pleasantly spacious presentation. The catch: bass extension is better than old-school HD 600/650 rivals, but the low end can feel soft and lacking punch, and the darker mid-treble robs some sparkle, air, and outright detail. Brass and piano can sound a bit blunted, so don’t expect a resolution monster. It’s also open-back, so isolation is nonexistent. Still, for listeners chasing comfort, smooth tonality, and a more refined alternative to V-shaped tuning, this is an appealing pick—even if genre preferences may push rock and metal fans toward the HD 6XX instead.

Aune AR5000

pragmaticaudio.com

Aune’s first headphone lands like a veteran effort: premium build, standout comfort, easy drivability, and a balanced, spacious tuning that punches well above its $300 price. Bass is full and controlled rather than showy, mids are the star with natural clarity, and treble stays lively without turning sharp. Soundstage and imaging are especially strong for the class, even if true planar rivals still stretch wider. The knocks are real but minor: the stock cable tangles too easily, the bass could use a touch more sub-bass for some listeners, and the custom pads may be a pain to replace. Still, this is framed as one of the smartest buys in mid-fi—an “all-rounder” with very few compromises and genuine future-classic potential.
