KRK KNS8400 Studio Headphone Review - Sonarworks Blog

sonarworks.com

KRK KNS 8400 headphones offer decent build quality and a useful detachable cable with volume control. They exhibit a unique frequency response with boosted high-mids, making them fit for mixing, though this coloration may not suit all users. Comfort is adequate, but competitors like Beyerdynamic offer better options. While not overpriced, alternatives such as the Mackie MC-250 provide similar value at a lower cost. Overall, the KNS 8400s are solid but unremarkable, serving as a competent monitoring tool when paired with calibration.

KRK KNS Series headphones review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The KRK KNS 8400 headphones impress with excellent sound quality and comfort, making them a reliable choice for studio work. The closed-back design is perfect for recording, and the memory foam padding ensures long-lasting wearability. The detachable cable and replaceable parts add to their practicality. However, each model in the series suits different tasks, which may require careful selection based on specific needs. Overall, the KNS 8402 stands out for its superior fidelity and ergonomics, offering great value for price-conscious musicians.

positive

KRK KNS 8400

soundonsound.com

KRK's KNS 8400 Studio Headphones offer a comfortable fit and a sound profile that mirrors their studio monitors, making them an excellent tool for mix checking. The headphones boast a strong upper-mid range, which, while useful for detailed listening, can be fatiguing over time. With detachable cables and replaceable memory foam cushions, they are designed for practicality and comfort. However, their lightweight build compromises isolation slightly. Despite this, their affordability and overall performance make them a worthwhile consideration for studio use.

KRK KNS8400 Headphones Review - Digital DJ Tips

digitaldjtips.com

The KRK KNS 8400 headphones impress with their comfort and utility for studio production, especially given their price. Lightweight with memory foam earpads, they’re ideal for extended wear, even for those who wear glasses. Their balanced sound profile makes them excellent for detailed monitoring, offering clear mids and a restrained low end, which can serve as a valuable reference against speaker monitors. However, they lack the bass punch needed for DJing. The proprietary cable can be a drawback if damaged, but the extras like a carry bag and cleaning cloth add value. For producers seeking an affordable, comfortable, and reliable studio companion, the KNS 8400 is a sound choice.

Decent 3.5/5

I've had these for about a decade, so they're definitely showing their age. However, I do wish they were built more for longevity. It is somewhat difficult to locate replacement pads for these and the ones I have (both the top and sides) are in poor shape. It's like... Roughly $40 (or a third of the cost) just for the foam (sans shipping/taxes), if you can even find it. Quality is good enough. I'd say the frequency response is flat enough for bedroom producing, but I haven't done any actual measuring or research since when I first purchased them. I'd probably opt for some Audio Technicas the next time around.

Comfortable, precise, good to go!

Brilliant sound quality, the cancellation is real - my flatmates have sat right behind me talking to me without me noticing. Have also sat there for hours with these babies on my head and didn't even notice them there after a little while. Would recommend to anyone on a lower budget or are just looking for a new toy :)

Like strapping monitors onto your head.

Since I invested in these headphones, there has been a markable difference in the quality of the music I am writing and producing. They enable you to hear every aspect of your music clearly, with a perfectly flat EQ bed. Perfect for both in the studio and on the road.

Yeah, it's pretty good

Great Midrange pair of headphones, should get if you're just starting out. Really comfortable, you could literally wear the for days and there would be no pain. Or at least that's how it is for me.

Listening to mixes when without my monitors!

Great value headphones for occasional use

I don't use headphones much, but when I do, I found having these deliver great bang for the buck. I am sure there are better headphones, but this is really solid!

freezeetch

Reliable studio headphones with flat frequency response

My go-to studio headphones. They sound great for just about any purpose. I also have KRK monitors, so these compliment those nicely. Nice flat frequency response.
