Critic Reviews

D'Addario EXL110 Electric Strings Review | David Boles, Blogs

bolesblogs.com

D’Addario EXL110 Nickelwound Guitar Strings have won over skeptics with their durability and long-lasting brilliance, making them ideal for blues bends without finger discomfort. While initially dismissed, their performance on a David Gilmour Strat and endorsements by renowned players like Eric Clapton (albeit disputed) highlight their quality. The strings maintain sound integrity longer than competitors like Ernie Ball, and their resilience against breakage impresses even under a heavy pick. Despite some initial hesitation, these strings emerge as a reliable choice for those seeking robust, vibrant tones without frequent changes.

Versatile and balanced

Good and balanced strings, just enough tension to keep them in tune when strumming heavily and the bends are still pretty easy to do

perfectcandor

Great tension

These seem to keep tension when dropping. These are what I use for D standard on 25.5" and work perfectly without setting up from standard.

Some of the best strings you can buy

I switched to D'Addario after I started having issues with Ernie Ball's breaking on some of my tune-o-matic guitars. I've used these for several months now and I can say with confidence I have not had the sane issue with these. They play and feel just the same but I no longer have to worry about breaking strings anymore

ammarplp

my favorite at the show

it's a bit durable using d,addario 0.10, yapp at least 2 weeks is enough for 2 shows. unfortunately the tone is not clear we use 2 weeks

emitremmus

amazing guitar strings. super reliable.

I stopped buying Dean Markley strings for these strings as they are a lot more reliable and give you that nice warm 'New-String sound' for a lot longer, in fact, i changed my strings about 3 and a half weeks ago and they still have that nice sound. These strings also feel super amazing and i would recommend these strings to every guitar player out there!

d_perdomo

The best ones.

Very comfortable and with a bright tone that works with all the genres.

Cool strings

I was on a search for guitar strings cause 3 strings on my guitar snapped. My cousin's boyfriend recommend D'addario 9's but I regularly use 10's so I went with them. They sound nice and have just the right brightness of tone. When i installed them on my guitar it was so good. I had one problem with them they rust quickly after weeks

fuzzhe_d

Fruiscante vibes!

Very versatile strings! Of course, bought it because of Fruiscante. Good for funky and psychedelic kind of bands.

dwnyguitar

There's something about D'Addario

I've tried different brands, but always come running back to D'Addario. They give me just the right tension and feel. It is the perfect balance for playability versus tone.

"I have been using D'Addario strings for longer than I can remember. I started out like anybody else thinking, 'How am I ever going to afford the strings that I want?' Musicians go through, unfortunately, trying all sorts of strings. It's an expensive proposition to 'try' new strings for a while. It's devastating when you can only afford a few packs and then they break or they go bad after a couple of songs. So we're always on a quest for strings that not only sound well but also perform really well in the real world. Whether it be during intense rehearsals, intense practicing on a stage, in a tiny place or in a big place with weather changes, whatever, playing in the backyard, or playing the back of a truck in February in Manhattan. Whatever it is you got to do, those strings are your life line."

"Josh uses D'Addario .010-.046s all across the board except on the Penguin, which we call 'Pingo'. It comes from a British animated TV series for kids. It has an animated penguin in it, he just spends his time hanging out in the ice and playing with his friends. He's called Pingo so the guitar is called Pingo. That one is .011-.049, again D'Addarios. Everything else is just as is, and then D'Addario's Standard 12-String sets. He's played them forever, he's happy with them," says Josh Klinghoffer's guitar tech.
