Critic Reviews

Electro-Harmonix: Hum Debugger / Hum Eliminator Pedal | Tape Op Magazine | Longform candid interviews with music producers and audio engineers covering mixing, mastering, recording and music production.

tapeop.com

The Electro-Harmonix Hum Debugger impresses with its ability to eliminate pesky single coil hum without affecting clean tones, making it a studio lifesaver for buzzing pickups. However, the pedal introduces a slight spatial distortion on clean settings, which could be a dealbreaker for purists. While it shines in high-gain, fuzzy scenarios, its performance on cleaner tones warrants caution. At $156.70, it's a worthy tool but requires careful monitoring to ensure it maintains the integrity of the sound. A mixed bag, it's best suited for rock settings where hum becomes an unwanted third band member.

NGD: Electro-Harmonix Hum Debugger – Review – Lone Phantom

lonephantom.com

The Electro-Harmonix Hum Debugger impresses with its ability to eliminate pesky hum without sacrificing sustain, ideal for clean and low-gain players. However, its non-standard power supply is a minor inconvenience, and high-gain users may experience unwanted electronic reverb if not placed in the effects loop. Overall, it's an effective tool with some quirks, best appreciated when tested in-store.

Perfect noise reduction pedal for 60 cycle hum

This pedal is one of the greatest investments that I have ever made. This pedal gets rid of the 60hz hum perfectly. I use this while I play my tele and my strat, and I have zero problems with any hum coming FROM THE GUITAR. That is what this pedal is made for. This not meant to reduce noise coming from the gain off the amp. This is meant to get rid of hum from the guitar, and it does the job perfectly. I would recommend this pedal to anyone who is looking to reduce noise in their rig.

Essential for single coil

I really recommend it for single coil. In an environment with some electronic equipments / screens / electric issues, it's welcome to have this kind of filter that remove background noise. Change a little bit the sound of my fuzz, placed after (add some little bright metallic texture). So I use the Hum Debugger only when necessary.

colemorson

Buzz-be-gone.

I play at many venues with terrible electrical grounding, so it's gotten to the point where Iv'e Velcro'd this to the back of my amp. Sucks a bit of tone, but it sucks ALL the hum.

Can't live without it

You love single coils, you hate hum, you want to preserve your sound: Always on pedal by default.
