Description

The Epiphone Lee Malia RD Custom is a signature electric guitar designed in collaboration with Lee Malia of Bring Me the Horizon, capturing the band's eclectic and aggressive sound. This guitar stands out with its unique '70s-style Artisan aesthetics, featuring gold hardware and intricate floral motifs that are sure to catch the eye. Crafted for those who appreciate both style and substance, the guitar boasts a classic mahogany body with a maple top, delivering a resonant and cutting tone that is quintessential to the RD series.

At the heart of this instrument are its Gibson USA pickups, a powerful pairing of the 84T-LM humbucker and the P-94 single-coil. This versatile setup offers a wide range of tonal possibilities, from crunchy, distorted rhythm to pristine, clear single-coil sounds, thanks to an innovative coil-tap feature. The P-94 is especially notable for its Dummy Coil technology, which eliminates the typical 60-cycle hum, ensuring your sound remains pure and noise-free.

Comfort and playability are priorities with the 1959 Rounded C-profile neck, often referred to as a "baseball bat" due to its chunky feel. This neck shape not only provides a comfortable grip but also contributes to the guitar's impressive sustain, allowing you to dig deep into chords and notes with confidence. The Lee Malia RD Custom also includes a LockTone Tune-o-matic bridge and premium tuning machines for reliable tuning stability.

A little different

I haven't messed with any Gibson designed guitars in a while now, but I've loved BMTH since middle school and got this for a really good price.

I really like the pickups, as I primarily use P90s in my Jazzmaster, and Humbuckers in my other Gibson/Epiphone guitars. It's a nice balance of bright and warm, and the ability to split coils makes it even more versatile. The dummy coil was a great idea and I'm surprised it isn't more common, as this guitar hardly has any unwanted noise coming out of it. I have it strung up in Drop A# to keep up with BMTH songs and it handles real well. The slimmer neck with heavy strings is a good feeling.

The tuners are the worst part of this. They feel cheap and were a bit hard to turn at first. I would compare them to any MIC generic strat copy tuners, but these can be replaced. The gold is nice at least.
