Description

Step into the golden era of rock with the Epiphone Ltd Ed 50th Anniversary 1961 SG Special. This tribute to a legendary classic brings the past to life with its iconic design and tone. Crafted with a mahogany body and neck, it mirrors the original's SlimTaper 1960s 'D' profile, offering a comfortable, familiar grip. The neck's hand-set 24.75" scale and 12" radius make it a joy to navigate, while the rosewood fingerboard and 1.68" nut width ensure smooth playability and rock-solid tuning stability.

The essence of this guitar's sound lies in its pickups. Equipped with Alnico P-90R and P-90T Soapbar pickups, the SG Special delivers a versatile sonic palette, blending the clarity of single coils with the depth of humbuckers. Whether you're chasing gritty blues or soaring leads, this guitar adapts with ease. A special 'Lightning Bar' wrap-around bridge further enhances sustain and tuning stability, giving you the freedom to explore without hesitation.

Aesthetic details, such as the vintage black controls with metal inserts and the classic '60s-era Epiphone logo, transport you back to a time of pure rock 'n' roll. Completing the package, this edition includes a special 50th Anniversary padded gig bag, ensuring your instrument stays protected on the road.

As stated in this article:

Guitarist Jim Ward of the band Sparta sent Epiphone this photo with his TV Yellow Limited Edition 50th Anniversary "1961" SG Special. The P-90 powered solidbody has become Jim's goto axe both on the road and in the studio. Jim had this to say, "I have enjoyed every single thing about my Epiphone '61 SG reissues. I have not only used them on the At the Drive-in tour this spring, but also on the new Sparta recording. I usually don't use the same guitars live and on record, but I am head-over-heels for this thing. Thanks again Epiphone."
