Critic Reviews

Focusrite iTrack Solo Review | PCMag

pcmag.com

The Focusrite iTrack Solo offers a clean, transparent sound for solo projects on iPad, Mac, and PC, earning it an Editors' Choice for budget audio interfaces. Its sturdy metal build and quality preamp deliver excellent audio clarity. However, the interface only supports mono recording and features a notably short and rigid proprietary iPad cable. Despite these drawbacks, its versatility and competitive pricing make it a compelling option for musicians, especially those using iPads.

positive

Focusrite iTrack Solo

soundonsound.com

The Focusrite iTrack Solo is an impressive audio interface for iOS, offering clean sound and essential features like a mic input with phantom power, instrument input, and direct monitoring. Its sturdy build and ease of use are ideal for home studios. However, its inability to switch input channels can be limiting for guitar amp software users. Despite this, it remains a solid choice for serious demo work, given you can manage its few quirks.

positive

Review: Focusrite iTrack Solo | iLounge

ilounge.com

The Focusrite iTrack Solo offers excellent audio quality and robust construction, making it a solid choice for stationary setups. However, its appeal is marred by a clunky iPad connection, awkward cable design, and the inability to charge an iPad during use. While it competently handles both guitar and microphone inputs, the rigid, short proprietary cable limits device placement and future-proofs concerns with incoming technology changes like Apple's Lightning Connector. At $200, it offers quality sound but faces stiff competition, especially given its iPad interface limitations.

Flexibility

Very flexible as you can pair it with any of your iOS devices which comes handy when you don't want to take out your entire studio.

Enough capabilities

When i decided to buy this interface, i had certain things in my mind. I didnt need so many inputs, I needed pristine quality in my home recordings, i needed to use the interface both on my apple and windows devices. All done. No driver issues. No latency. This device is a bang for the buck.

B

Purchase only if you're on a budget.

While this interface gets the job done, it also has a bit of latency issues from constant use. The single connection for XLR is annoying as well.
