Owner Insights
We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about Gibson Firebird Zero.
Build quality
-
Some owners report visible seams in the 3-piece body with thin paint and black smudges under the nitro finish due to poor cleaning before finishing.
Source -
The body is described as an upside-down reverse Firebird, which feels odd and is best played standing up, as it doesn't sit well when seated.
Source -
Some owners find the hardware feels cheap, contributing to an overall perception of lower build quality despite the smooth neck and non-sharp fret ends.
Source
Setup and maintenance
-
The neck is set with nearly 0-degree pitch, causing a "flat" feel and making it impossible to achieve low action; the best achievable action is high, even with the wraparound bridge flush against the body.
Source -
Owners report replacing the stock bridge with a Hipshot baby grand to achieve better playability due to the thin poplar body and minimal neck angle.

In this video hunter mods the gibson firebird zero. He upgrades this to have a hipshot baby grand bridge, a pair of gibson 496 humbuckers, new knobs, goto locking tuners. he thought this guitar originally was the worst gibson he ever played. due to this he challenged himself to mod the guitar, and see if putting money into the guitar can make it a decent guitar
