Critic Reviews

Gibson Les Paul Standard '50s review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The Gibson Les Paul Standard '50s brings back classic vibes with a bigger neck and vintage specs that appeal to traditionalists. Its build quality is commendable, featuring solid construction and that iconic Les Paul sound. However, it suffers from minor imperfections like sharp edges and a somewhat dry fingerboard, which might warrant a quick setup for optimal playability. While the vintage-style wiring could be improved, it's a simple fix that doesn't detract heavily from its overall charm. For those seeking a vintage instrument feel, this guitar stands out as a strong contender, though prospective buyers should try it in person to ensure it meets their expectations.

Review: Gibson 2019 Les Paul Standard ’50s & Les Paul Tribute

guitar.com

Gibson's Les Paul Standard '50s offers a nostalgic build and solid tones, but it’s not without flaws. While the craftsmanship shines with its vintage aesthetics and playability, the heavier weight and certain cost-saving features—like PCB-mounted controls—might disappoint traditionalists. Additionally, the pickups, though serviceable, lack the complexity expected at this price point. Overall, while the guitar has its merits, it may not fully satisfy purists seeking an authentic vintage sound.

This is THE guitar!

This has been my dream guitar ever since I saw my first music videos! I'd been playing knockoffs and Epiphones before this one. This guitar lives up to the hype!
