Gibson SG '70s Tribute review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The Gibson SG '70s Tribute is a formidable instrument that excels in both aesthetics and performance. With its sleek Min-ETune system, players can enjoy effortless tuning and a variety of tunings at their fingertips. The guitar's Dirty Fingers pickups deliver a punchy, clear sound that's perfect for hard rock. However, the sharp fret ends could detract from its overall playability. While the lack of a scratchplate is unconventional, it surprisingly works for the design. Overall, this guitar is a great choice for those seeking a versatile, visually appealing instrument that won't break the bank.

Bare bones rock machine

This SG has no bling, no binding no scratch plate, but it does have that 70s Volute on the neck which I personally like, and a pair of Dirty Fingers high output pickups. These pickups clean up great and have all the grunt you could want. It weighs nothing and feels great to play,

Preferred Settings + Usage:

I use all 2 pickup 3 way switch Gibson's in one of 2 ways:

  1. Neck pu vol off, bridge pu vol on 10, use the toggle as an on/off switch.

  2. Neck pu on 3, bridge pu on 10, use the toggle as a quiet/loud switch.
