In this photo, Berry is seen with Gretsch White Falcon doublecut. One of the differences that this guitar has 4 knobs, instead of 1 or 2 knobs normal White Falcon has. Some also think that this was a gift from Neil Young, considering he does the knob thing to his Gretsch guitars, in purpose of splitting the pickups.more
> In MAMI's blog entry on Aug. 5, 2010, MAMI shared with her fans that she had recently bought a Gretsch White Falcon. Price? A whopping ¥509,250! Even though she bought it during the summer of 2010, she had only used it for casual/personal use. It wasn't until early 2011 that the White Falcon made its formal debut by appearing in the PV for "CUTE!", which is fitting since the White Falcon was used to record that track. -SCANDAL HEAVEN MAMI still uses it live for songs like *Kon o Yomu* .more
The item can be seen 0:07 from this video of the song 'From the inside out' of Hillsong United. [Michael] It’s funny, because a lot of people will wonder why I have the different guitars. Even the guys we tour with will ask if we can’t just travel with one guitar, because it would be so much easier. It’s crazy, but they are so different, sonically. The White Falcon, it’s a hard guitar to play, but once you get used to it, it’s like driving a really old car. You have to be really careful, and you’re really going to hear it if you drive too fast around a corner. There’s something about that sound that I really like. I like it brighter. Some people think that they’re too harsh, and then too tubby if it’s on the neck pickup. But I feel like it’s the perfect range, especially if you’re doing riffs and stuff. It’s my “go to” for two-note or three-note riffs. And then something like the Telecaster is so even and clean and quite snappy sounding. It’s great for rhythm playing and it’s good for a lot of overdriven stuff, whereas the White Falcon doesn’t handle the overdriven stuff too well. - from worshipmusician.commore
Per Gessle first debuted this double cutaway Gretsch White Falcon 2 with bigsby during the single run of Roxette’s third album joyride. The guitar first appeared on “The Big L” video and again briefly during the “Spending My Time” video towards the end. It reappeared during the tourism days in the “Fingertips ‘93” video again later during the “Fireworks” video. Per also used this Gretsch on the “Join the Joyride” and “Crash! Boom! Bang!” Tours and TV appearances in the 90s. I hadn’t seen him use it since but when I met him in 2013 at Bromma Airport in Stockholm before the premiere of Gyllene Tider’s ”Dags att tanka på refrängen Ture” we talked about his guitars and when I asked about his Gretsch collection he assured me he still has them all.more
