The Noisy Mic 2 by JMT Synth made in Japan is an unique vocal effects processor designed to transform any voice into uncompromising screeching and growling noise textures. Used by Dara Kiely from Gilla Band (formerly known as Girl Band) and Gerard Way from My Chemical Romance.

Only turns on while the microphone switch is pressed.

The audio input from the microphone is mixed with the built-in oscillator or external CV IN (when EXT CV is selected) by the MULTIPLEX CIRCUIT, input to a distortion circuit that emphasizes TREBLE-MIDDLE-BASS, and output from OUTPUT.

The LFO is applied to the VCO only when the VCO switch is selected, and can change the waveform and speed.

The distortion is reduced at the minimum GAIN, but the volume decreases, so adjust with the TREBLE-MIDDLE-BASS knobs and VOLUME.

You can change your voice in various ways with a responsive effect by emphasizing only the highs, mids, or lows.

The MULTIPLEX CIRCUIT is a modified ring modulator circuit that is adjusted to mix the voice and the built-in oscillator in a balanced way.

By adjusting the oscillator frequency to the pitch of the voice, you can create a whispering voice, from robotic to death metal.

A condenser microphone is used, which is so responsive that you can create various noises just by blowing into it.

The output section uses a mute circuit, so you can instantly open and close the output by turning the microphone on and off, and control howling.

The EXT CV can also be used to input other oscillators, LFO.JMT SYNTH noise machines, and analog synth equipment, which are mixed with the voice inside the unit.

​Do not connect any microphone other than the one provided. Please note that connecting it will damage the circuit.

It runs on DC9V negative center or a 9V battery.
