Excellent for the price!
I've been using this as my primary guitar/bass recording interface for about 5 years at this point. The tones are excellent and the USB output "just works". My only serious beef is that the Vyzex software that you need to edit presets is not available on Linux.

This is a convenient way to be able to practice and learn songs without lugging the half stack out.
This is a modeling headphone amplifier that has decent effects. The Pocket Pod does have a USB port to hook up to a laptop or desktop to modify sounds. It is definitely solid state and portable.
Gives you away with it
Very practical effect pedal. Awesome performance with pre-made effects, not very good to create effects in time. You can't obtain a clean tone with the pod plugged in your signal chain. If you want you can plug in your mp3 or Ipod to play over music our drum tracks
