CONS

Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about Marshall JMP-1C.

Features and functionality

  • The JMP-1C, despite its compact size, delivers a surprising amount of gain akin to a Plexi, minimizing the need for additional pedals.

    Source
  • The switch on the preamp should be set to +4db for optimal performance when connecting to a power amp.

    Source
  • For effects loops, set the loop value to -20db for guitar pedals or +4db for rack effects to maintain signal integrity.

    Source

Comparisons

  • When maxed out, the JMP-1C is louder than a Vox Mini Superbeetle set to 3 o'clock volume and 12 o'clock gain.

    Source
  • Considered alongside the JCM1 and JTM1, the JMP-1C stands out for those seeking a Plexi-like experience.

    Source

User experience

  • Owners report a lack of available demos, adding an element of risk for first-time buyers of this Marshall model.

    Source
  • Owners emphasize not turning on both channels of the 9200 power amp simultaneously when using a single Captor X, to prevent damage.

    Source

Setup and maintenance

  • Using a speaker cable instead of an instrument cable is crucial to avoid damaging the setup when connecting to the Captor X.

    Source
  • Only connect to channel B of the power amp if using a single Captor X, keeping channel A completely turned off.

    Source

Software and compatibility

  • The Captor X must be either 8 ohm or 16 ohm for compatibility with the setup, ensuring proper impedance matching.

Marshall JMP-1C 50th Anniversary Combo Amp Review - Premier Guitar

premierguitar.com

The Marshall JMP-1C 50th Anniversary Combo Amp impresses with its vintage styling and compact size, delivering classic Marshall tones at manageable volumes. Perfect for home recording and collectors, it captures the essence of the '70s Super Lead with surprising tonal richness. However, its 1-watt power may not suffice for live gigs without a mic, and the midrange can be aggressive. Despite these drawbacks, the JMP-1C is a worthwhile investment for those seeking authentic Marshall sound without the bulk of a full-sized head.

The mouse that roared

Hey!! This amp is crazy!! It's perfect for recording and practice at home. I almost always use it in the 0.1 watt mode with the gain switch engaged, unless I'm doing clean work and then in full power mode it is loud as hell and has ample headroom for again, recording and practice. The drive on this amp is awesome and is inspiring, I'm playing my es 339 through it as i type this and the tone is flat out blistering!! Hit playback and you can't tell it's not a big JPM 100 watter!! I LOVE MY LIL MARSHALL!

How loud is it in 0.1 watt mode? Is it compatible with bedroom volumes?

brian_l_bunt

xyez, it's a true "bedroom" volume. In the 0.1 mode it does not bother my neighbors at all. You can wind it all the way up. The gain switch on the back sounds great in the low power mode too, pumping up the raunch and compression.

You can get great 70's hard rock tones out of this tiny, low wattage amp, don't let it fool you by its apereance, it is more powerful than you think.
