The heart of my setup
My favorite DAW. I tried Live and FL but this is the one that stuck to me. It's pretty stable and has all the functions I can wish for at a rather cheap price when I compare it to other entry-level versions of DAWs. I've yet to try the remore app. The only problem is, is that the Elements version has no sidechain possibilities, so I'll upgrade to Artist soon!

Pros and Cons in comparison to FL and Ableton Live 9
Stock plugins: - Wide range of stock plugins, excels in synths area. - Effect plugins weak against FL Studio.
Pattern area: - Lots of tools on the top which proved very useful. - Piano roll hard to use, not very user friendly in comparison to FL.
Recording - Particularly good compared to FL an Ableton, especially with a Steinberg interface.
Overall: a crispy DAW.

The most historical and longest lifespan DAW
I am still using and updating Cubase since v1.0. Althought that some other DAWs has nice options too (like Ableton Live or Logic Pro or ProTools), this DAW is became an industry standard (also with Nuendo). In this version, some new exciting feature added: sampler track and the bottom editor window which really is a plus when you use this software in a single-display environment (multi-display also supported).

Very complex DAW and hard for begginers to get going. Workflow is imo really bad compared to FL Studio. Love the quality samples however

A powerful and user-friendly DAW for all levels
Outside of Mixcraft 4 and audacity, this was my first professional DAW, and after several years of learning production and experimenting with other programs, I have yet to find another recording/mixing software that comes close to the ease and power this program has. I have yet to upgrade to 6 or 7 and plan to do so when I can afford it, but if they're anything like 5 was, I'll definitely be sticking with Steinberg in the future.

I still didn't upgrade to full version
I first started recording midi stuff with Cubase on an old Atari ST computer and my electronic yamaha clavinova piano, now back to 2015 when I first used this version of Cubase, it has been a revolution for me, I still have a lot to learn about DAWs in general, I tried FL Studio, Ableton, ProTools and others but Cubase is still my favorite for music production It lacks some functions (because it's the elements version) but with the right VST Plugins and some experience you can still achieve a lot

Much needed workflow update
My biggest gripe has been removed in this version of Cubase with the addition of the lower zone. This type of feature has been in other DAWs for some time, so it's nothing groundbreaking, but it definitely has changed my single monitor workflow for the better. I've been a Cubase user since 6, and from my (composition) perspective, it's only been getting better with each iteration.

So, I learned Cubase, or at least the bare bones, in school. Fair enough. When I got it myself, I felt at home with it. I learned more and more, and it became a really great tool. Of course, the interface can feel daunting at first, but it really packs a punch when you know where everything is.

Studio One is in a lot of ways similar to Cubase, fully featured, just a little easier to learn.
The similarities have to do with the fact that Studio One was first written by Wolfgang Kundrus (an early developer for Cubase & the primary author/developer of Nuendo) & Matthias Juwan (the guy who wrote the VST3 spec) as part of KristalLabs Software Ltd (the "K" logo for Studio One is a tribute to them). PreSonus later bought them out & started releasing their product as Studio One.
Thus, Studio One & Cubase have a lot in common (e.g. shortcuts, UI/UX elements, etc)
Logic is probably the closest rival DAW that has similar pro level feature sets and is used by as many top level users.
