Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about Strymon Ojai High Current DC Power Supply.

Features and functionality

  • The Strymon Ojai can deliver up to 2666 mA total when linked, but running near this limit can cause issues with higher current pedals.

    Source
  • Each Ojai outlet provides up to 500 mA, but total power is capped by the adapter's 24W limit, affecting multiple high-draw pedal setups.

    Source
  • The Ojai's modular design allows for seamless expansion by chaining additional units, accommodating growing pedalboards.

    Source

Comparisons

  • The Cioks DC-7 and DC-8 bundle offers a slim profile solution for powering up to 15 pedals with individual power outlets.

    Source
  • The MXR Iso Brick is often preferred over the DC Brick for its isolated outputs and compact size, fitting better under smaller pedalboards like the MONO Pedalboard Lite.

    Source
  • The Truetone CS-6 is mentioned as a cheaper alternative if noiseless signals or 500mA per plug aren't necessary.

    Source
  • The CIOKS 4 offers versatility with its small size and ability to be powered by a phone charger, providing a strong alternative to the Ojai.

    Source

User experience

  • Users recommend daisy chaining low-draw analog pedals to maximize available power on multi-output setups like the Ojai.

    Source
  • Owners report that the Ojai adapter's center-positive design is opposite from most guitar pedals, requiring careful attention when using alternative power supplies.

    Source

Other

  • When linking Ojai power supplies, using a Zuma as the primary power unit increases total available wattage, reducing issues with high-demand setups.

    Source

Build quality

  • The connection issue with the Strymon Ojai power brick often stems from the plastic center piece of the barrel connection breaking, leading to loose fittings and power dropouts.

    Source
  • Users report that the Strymon Ojai feels sturdy despite its small size, contrasting initial perceptions of delicacy due to compactness.

    Source

Mods and upgrades

  • Some users have successfully replaced the Ojai's DC jack with a CUI Devices PJ-025 model from Digi-Key, securing the casing with KrazyGlue after the modification.

    Source
  • Some users hard-wire the power cable to the board and use hot glue for reinforcement to prevent the connection from loosening, providing a budget-friendly solution to the problem.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • The Ojai's power brick issues are frequently reported, especially when used in gig settings, suggesting it may be more suited for home use unless modified.

    Source
  • The Ojai fits snugly under a Pedaltrain Nano+ board, optimizing space and allowing for efficient cable management.

Great

Treat your signal chain to the power supply it deserves.

I made the mistake of buying a cheap power supply and it resulted in excessive noise and an inability to handle higher amp draw, despite the pedals all being within the supposed limit

I then invested in this and the difference is incredible. Zero noise, and can handle some beefy draw from my pedals.

Well worth the money
