Description

Unleash a new dimension of sound with the Tsakalis AudioWorks Phonkify, a pedal that boldly blends an envelope filter with a versatile octave effect. Whether you're crafting smooth grooves or gritty riffs, Phonkify adapts to your playing style with its dual-mode operation—dive into 'smooth' for subtle expression or 'nasty' for a more aggressive edge. This pedal is not just about sound; it's about control. With an expression input socket, you can manipulate the frequency range in real-time, transforming the envelope filter into an expressive wah effect at lower sensitivity settings.

Phonkify offers a meticulous layout of controls, including volume, octave, frequency, sensitivity, and gain, giving you the power to sculpt your sound with precision. The intuitive switches for post/pre and nasty/smooth modes, along with the true bypass circuitry, ensure your tone remains pure and uncolored when the effect is disengaged. LED indicators keep you informed of the effect and octave status, while the robust build promises durability for both stage and studio use.

Designed for the discerning musician, Phonkify is equipped with standard 6.3 mm jack input/output connections and an expression pedal input. It requires a 9V DC power supply (not included) and boasts a current consumption of just 56 mA, making it a practical addition to any pedalboard.

Tsakalis AudioWorks Phonkify Review - Premier Guitar

premierguitar.com

The Tsakalis AudioWorks Phonkify is a refreshing take on envelope filters, boasting versatile sound options that break free from traditional funk stereotypes. Its dual modes—smooth and nasty—offer a broad range of sonic textures, making it a standout for creative players. The addition of an octave effect enhances its versatility, while the input gain and master volume controls allow for precise tone shaping. However, while the pedal excels in many areas, it may not suit those seeking a purely classic filter sound. Still, at around $200, the Phonkify provides exceptional value for musicians eager to explore unique sonic realms.

Top Shelf Envelope Filter

Super compact, super fun, great envelope filter and fantastic Octave option (post or pre). In front of drives and fuzzes it gives a good punch to your sharp solos or riffs. 9v Power, it fits a small space on your pedalboard.

Only downside: The octave circuit is not independent from the envelope circuit. So it works only if the Filter is engaged.

Overall, my favourite Envelope filter ever! Super Funky!
