Critic Reviews

Yamaha CS-15D | Vintage Synth Explorer

vintagesynth.com

The Yamaha CS15D offers a warm and solid sound for a single VCO synth, appreciated for its vintage charm. The dual-channel design, with a mix of preset and manual controls, provides a decent range of sounds, although the presets can be unrealistic. While the 12dB filter and modulation options add some flexibility, the lack of precision in portamento and the unconventional pitch wheel might deter some users. The absence of a spring in the pitch wheel is a divisive feature. Overall, the CS15D is a niche choice for those seeking a specific retro experience, with some quirks that limit its versatility.

Lush-sounding, but limited

Bought one in mint condition in early 2017. What stands out most about this synth, is its looks. I found it to produce incredibly lush-sounding & vangelish-esque brass-sounds when run trough a reverb, but it is quite limited in its synthesis features!
