DDS-20M Digital Delay Sampler Review: 3 seconds may have been quite an achievement in the mid... | Yamaha | Guitar Effects | Reviews @ Ultimate-Guitar.Com

ultimate-guitar.com

While the Yamaha DDS-20M Digital Delay Sampler boasts solid construction and reliability, its performance falls short of modern expectations. The 3-second sampling time is limiting, and the sound quality is described as generic, with an unpleasant electronic overlay. The feedback control can dangerously escalate, leading to potential damage to amps, and the knobs are overly sensitive, making precise adjustments a challenge. Despite its durability, the lackluster sound and outdated features make it a less appealing choice for today's guitarists. Overall, this pedal might have been a decent option in the 1980s, but today's musicians would likely seek better alternatives.

ultimate-guitar.com

While the Yamaha DDS-20M Digital Delay Sampler offers a nostalgic charm, its meager 3 seconds of sampling time feels painfully inadequate by modern standards. What may have been groundbreaking in the 1980s now seems limiting, prompting users to seek alternatives with extended capabilities. Reliability and durability score high, but in a fast-evolving effects landscape, this pedal struggles to keep pace. For musicians looking to capture and manipulate sound creatively, the DDS-20M might leave you wanting more.

Underrated Gem

The Yamaha DDS-20M is a great sounding pedal with very good oscillation cabability and a glitchy, albeit very short (about a second long) sample/loop feature.

Controls are smooth and operating the pedal is very intuitive.
