Great for the price

Arguably the best in the range, I tested the p420 at B&H next to about 5 other mics in the same range. Obviously you can go better and better, but for a basic 'bedroom studio', before you start making money, this really does the job. It has plenty of functionality options, comes with a shock mount and padded carry case. To the untrained ear, with good mixing, this can sound as professional as it gets.

Great all-around microphone

Used on a variety of sources, and capture is great for a $200 microphone (even less now). Can be a bit bright, so like any other mic, simply EQ to taste. Sounds even better when recording through a preamp like the dbx 286s.
