Analog Outfitters Scanner

soundonsound.com

Analog Outfitters' Scanner is a captivating blend of vintage charm and unique sound, appealing to those who appreciate boutique, hand-crafted gear. Built with reclaimed Hammond organ parts, it offers an authentic electromechanical vibrato and lush spring reverb, setting it apart from typical vibe effects. The sound quality is impressive, with an organic and complex vibrato that avoids the seasickness of some other effects. However, the unit's high price and somewhat unpolished finish may deter some buyers. Despite limited controls, the Scanner's charm and sonic character make it a standout for vintage enthusiasts.

Analog Outfitters Scanner Review - Premier Guitar

premierguitar.com

The Analog Outfitters Scanner impresses with its unique, enveloping vibrato that offers a warm, analog feel like no other. Its flexibility in studio settings is notable, and the effect is rich and dimensional. However, the Scanner's steep price and limited reverb control are downsides, making it less accessible for budget-conscious musicians. Despite this, its vibrato effect is unparalleled, positioning the Scanner as a compelling alternative to a rotating speaker. For tone enthusiasts willing to invest, it promises a sonic experience that standard vibrato/chorus pedals can't match.

In talking to John Bollinger of Premier Guitar and the Rig Rundown, January 10, 2017, Bramhall says: “This is a Analog Outfitters (Scanner)… and its, I guess it is the, the parts from a B3 and a Reverb Tank from that. Um, and they just sort of ah assemble all these old parts and put them in this box and it sounds, it give you that Leslie sound. The slow sound, the slow speed is pretty amazing. It just gives the best chorus sound ever.”
