Apple Logic Pro X
Logic Pro is a digital audio workstation and MIDI sequencer software application for the macOS platform. It was originally created in the early 1990s as Notator Logic, or Logic, by German software developer C-Lab, later Emagic. It became an Apple product, eventually known as Logic Pro, after Apple bought Emagic in 2002. It is the 2nd most popular digital audio workstation (DAW) according to a survey conducted in 2015.
A consumer-level version based on the same interface and audio engine but with reduced features, called Logic Express, was also available at a reduced cost. Apple's GarageBand, another application using Logic’s audio engine, is bundled in iLife, a suite of software which comes included on any new Macintosh computer. On December 8, 2011, the boxed version of Logic Pro was discontinued, along with Logic Express, and Logic Pro is now only available through the Apple App Store at the price of $199.99 in the United States, which used to be the price of Logic Express.
Logic Pro X Released as successor to Logic Pro 9 on July 16, 2013, Logic Pro X (10.0.0) included a new, single-window customizable interface, with a design in line with Final Cut Pro X, as well as new features. New tools in this release are Drummer, a virtual session player that automatically plays along with your song in a wide variety of drumming styles and techniques, and Flex Pitch, a Flex Time equivalent for pitch editing in audio recordings. Also, a new "Smart Controls" feature allows users to map parameters from an array of plugins to a single, convenient control interface. Redesigned keyboards and synths were included, together with new stomp boxes, bass amp and drum kit designers, and a chord arpeggiator. A completely rebuilt sound and loop library was introduced, along with a new Patch architecture. Logic Pro X has also improved track organization by allowing users to group multiple tracks into 'folder' like categories (e.g., acoustics, synthesizers, vocals, percussion, etc.). In addition to this organization, Logic Pro X allows individuals to trigger 'solo,' 'mute,' and 'volume' controls for each group. Further improvements were made to score editing, exporting (now compatible with MusicXML format), and introduces MIDI plug-in compatibility. Coinciding with the release of Logic Pro X was the release of a companion iPad app called Logic Remote, which allows wireless control of Logic Pro X, including Touch Instruments for playing and recording software instruments as well as tools for navigating, making basic edits and mixing.
Since this release, Logic Pro X runs in 64-bit mode only and no longer works with 32-bit plug-ins. Logic Pro X is capable of transferring most data from previous projects saved in Logic Pro 5 and later, though the transfer to 64-bit only means older 32-bit plugins will no longer work.

well
I mean I like it for tons of reasons and maybe it just me but, I first started making music on my phone, then I went to a windows computer, got fl studio, had some fun, went to Ableton, and was blown away, and I get to Logic and it was just wow, but maybe its just because I am not used to apple yet but, I dislike it because one I like to use samples to program my drums and even though the drummer is just mind blowing I am just used to having a library inside the DAW where you can drag and drop samples, I don't like have to go to import settings and scroll through folders. And two, I don't like how after using a drum rack, you have to convert it to audio to sidechain it. Its just not my workflow, I jump around and tweak and tweak until I'm satisfied. Taking the time to convert back and forth was frustrating for me. But programming synth melodies and utilizing its amp designers and multitude of reverb options is too fun and I cant deny that so for me I'm going to definitely use both Ableton and logic as soon as I get the money for the suite version and new computer

Favorite DAW
I started with Cubase but when I got seriously into music production even though just for fun I decided I had had enough Windows and bought my first Mac. Then I bought Logic and haven't looked back upgrading both the program and computer to keep up. It does everything I need and more...so much more that I have had to buy books and courses to try to keep up doing just the basic stuff but I am still devoted to it (although Ableton Live does keep calling me and I have been tempted) hehe.

Logic used to be my favorite DAW, but then Apple fell the f**k off
Hey Apple, I don't know what's going on with the Logic development team, but Logic is not the G.O.A.T. anymore. You guys fell the f**k off. What happened to the stability that we could depend on? What's up with the past 5 updates being prone to impeding bugs and sometimes overwhelming issues? The logic I used to know and love was smooth. I could just work with no problems, but now? Trash...

what a bummer to hear this. I haven't used Logic a ton in the last 5 years, but it's been ok in the limited use cases I assign it to. Do you think there's any hope things improve stability-wise over the next few years? What DAW will you switch to in the meantime?

@pkennethk I can't call it with Apple, but I do know that I've moved on to Presonus Studio One which also works perfectly with my Softube Console 1/Fader so I'm happy with that. I'm just disappointed with Apple. It's like they moved into this direction of trying to compete with Ableton Live when they should be focusing on their greatest strengths instead and because of that they've messed up Logic Pro which used to be a great production and mixing tool, but now it's sh*t...

I own a copy of it and wish I never bought it.
Ableton is way more flexible, I have no need for the presets, as I sound design everything I produce from field recordings and from scratch. I have never even used it, I wish I could sell the software but I can't because it's tied to my Apple ID. Lame on Apple's part, lots of red tape! I heard this is a good tool for more traditional recorded musicians. I like doing more live performance.
Logic is superb
Logic is first of all stable and it bundles up with alot of synths and effects/plug-ins. I would say that the price for Logic is crazy good for a DAW with all the bundled components. To me, Logic is a combination of a DAW and a music composing software combined, which is perfect for any home studio where you have to spend your money carefully. I used to have Pro-tools at home, but it was hard to get working properly (on windows at that time), and my creativity was not at its peak due to a somewhat limited selection of softsynths and other musicmaking plugins. I made a switch to Logic, and started composing right away. As a pure DAW would say that it really doesnt matter what you choose, but if you want to compose, you need a DAW which has some composing-tools, synths and stuff like that unless you have been already own third-party synths and plugins. I personally get very inspired when I hear drumbeats. Logics integrated Drummer is easily my goto plugin for composing rock music.

Love It
I make records, and I am also an aspiring film composer. Logic has been an amazing tool that allows me to stream line my workflow. For me, if I have an idea I need to get it out right then. If I waste time with a DAW even a moment, then half the idea is gone. Logic is so incredibly easy. It has an aspect of "plug-in-play" that really rely on. The music can go straight from my head into the DAW in no time at all! Now, don't let the simplification I am talking about fool you. Logic is a powerful tool. You can use it to write, record, mix, and master your music! Personally, I don't use it for mixing and mastering. The reality is in my working environment as well as the majority of studios - Pro Tools is king for mixing and mastering. So often what I do is bounce everything into Pro Tools so my guys can mix and master. Again, this is not because the functionality isnt there in Logic or isnt of high quality... I mean, Adel had her newest album recording and produced on Logic Pro X, from start to finish! So if your new to DAW's or a industry pro, Logic has got what you need!

Ungodly
Honestly, I cannot even begin to describe how much I love this DAW. I am creating things in Logic that I never even imagined in other DAWs. It's interesting, because if I have an idea in my head, all I have to do is sit down, open Logic, and within ten minutes usually my idea is right in front of me. I have only been using Logic consistently for about three months, before that I used Reason. I still do, I have Reason 8, but honestly having used both (and acknowledging that they are both good for their own things), most of the stuff I make is dubstep/EDM and Logic is just unfathomably good at helping me put my ideas in the sequencer. I love it. I would pay Apple 5x the $200 price tag for this software (although, I am glad I don't have to.)

"What I love about Logic Pro X is that you can import channel strips, including MIDI and bus routing. The way Benno and I work is, everything is hooked up to an old Apple server upstairs from my studio. That houses all of my samples and it’s fast enough that I can work from one server and have two projects open and streaming from it at the same time. Then Benno and I can each open the same project and, search for bass lines, import entire channel strips with MIDI or audio information, automation, or whatever, and efficiently combine our ideas." - Armin Van Buuren.
