Critic Reviews

Beyerdynamic DT 240 Pro review - SoundGuys

soundguys.com

The Beyerdynamic DT 240 Pro headphones offer a compelling combination of comfort and versatility, ideal for both studio and casual use. While they deliver loud and effective passive noise isolation, the sound quality is somewhat overshadowed by competitors like the Audio-Technica ATH-M40x, which provide clearer audio and a better soundstage. Additionally, the awkward 2.5mm cable can resonate sound and the included cloth pouch feels underwhelming. Overall, the DT 240 Pro is a solid choice for those prioritizing comfort and portability, but audiophiles may find better options elsewhere.

The Beyerdynamic DT 240 Pro headphones strike a commendable balance of warmth and detail, making them a solid pick for budding audio professionals. With a robust build and surprisingly spacious imaging, they excel in dynamic punch, though the bass could benefit from a tighter response. However, the uneven treble leads to some muddled vocals, and comfort during long sessions is hampered by slightly strong clamping. While they stand well against competitors like the Sennheiser HD 471i and Audio Technica ATH-M50x, which offer more refinement, the DT 240 Pro holds its own as a durable, portable option for on-the-go recording, earning a hearty recommendation for entry-level audio creators.

Beyerdynamic DT 240 Pro Studio Headphone Review - Sonarworks Blog

sonarworks.com

The Beyerdynamic DT 240 Pro headphones deliver exceptional build quality and sound isolation at an affordable price of €70, making them a solid choice for both studio work and casual listening. Their compact design enhances portability, while the sound signature offers a slight bass boost with a neutral mid-range, ideal for mixing. However, the small ear cups may lead to discomfort during extended sessions, particularly for users with glasses. Despite these comfort concerns, the overall performance and value make the DT 240 Pro a compelling option for audio professionals and enthusiasts alike.

Beyerdynamic DT 240 Pro review | TechRadar

techradar.com

While the Beyerdynamic DT 240 Pro headphones offer impressive sound clarity and a sturdy build at an affordable price, they come with significant caveats. Their compact design may appeal to some, but those with larger ears will find them uncomfortable, leading to a cramped fit and potential pain during extended use. Additionally, the minimal noise isolation detracts from their effectiveness in louder environments. While they excel in delivering balanced audio, the lack of vibrant color may leave some listeners wanting more. In short, great for smaller ears and studio use, but not the best choice for everyone.

beyerdynamic DT 240 Pro Review — Headfonics

headfonics.com

The Beyerdynamic DT 240 Pro headphones offer a solid build and commendable audio quality for their price point. However, while the sound is clinically accurate, this may disappoint those seeking a more musical experience. Comfort issues arise due to the ear pads heating up quickly and a strong clamp that can become uncomfortable during long sessions. The coiled cable, while practical for studio use, may not appeal to those looking for portability. Overall, these headphones serve well for monitoring but may not be the best choice for casual listeners.

Beyerdynamic DT 240 Pro headphones review - Higher Hz

higherhz.com

The Beyerdynamic DT 240 Pro headphones are a solid entry-level choice for budget-conscious musicians. With a nominally flat frequency response and impressive durability, they excel in casual listening and studio monitoring. However, comfort is a notable drawback, as the small ear cups may feel restrictive during extended sessions. Additionally, the low-end response can be muddy, limiting their effectiveness for mixing and mastering. Overall, while they offer great value for the price, potential buyers should weigh their comfort and sound accuracy against their needs.

Sound great, but small

Was looking for an inexpensive portable headphone option that I could use at work, for casual use and light production use. I guess I didn't do my research on the folding part very well, because they don't fold, they just lay flat. Also, they're marketed as "over-ear", but for my big head they are most definitely "on-ear", and I could feel my ears getting warm and sweaty. But they sound great! So I passed them along to my wife and figure I can use them for reference now and then. Recommended, but only if you have a smaller head/ears.

Good headphones for travel.

I like the build quality, the material, the ear cushions, the sound is also good. A small minus for me - although the ear cushions and made of quality thick leather, but the size of the ear cushions is a little frustrating, which gives a little discomfort to my ears, it seems I have no luck with my ears, ahaha.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

I use Realphones to correct the AFC of these headphones.

Audio-Technica ATH-M20X

cheaper alternative

Has bigger earcups but is less compact/portable and comfortable. Personally I prefer the sound of Beyerdynamic over Audio-Technica.
