Why pay more?

This is a very effective boost pedal, whilst not offering as much boost as many boosts out there like the TC electronic spark or the MXR micro amp it is very good and suits me perfectly. I run this into the front of my amp which is a Laney VC30. I constantly have the bright switch on so if I set the gain to 12 oclock there is no boost and I leave the treble at noon and the bass at 3 O'clock it really thickens up the clean channel for when I want to beef it up abit. This pedal is a buffered bypass which I prefer at the start of my chain as I run a lot of pedals so it helps to preserve tone abit. The pedal is very transparent and does not alter the the guitars tone with the bass and treble at noon the gain simply just effects how much boost you are getting. I really like it and it is very good especially at £35 new but I think I paid £30, I have forgot now. using it on the laney dirt channel really gives it some balls rather than being very low gain and vintage. I tend to have the boost maxed out and the bass at 3 oclock and the treble at noon. it really makes the amp sing and just about starts to push onto abit of feedback when holding a note which sounds amazing to me. not over the top just a subtle bit of feedback coming into the mix as the note rings out which the gain channel doesn't really do unless above about 4 or 5 on the volume which can be excessive in a flat at times. I really like this pedal, its built like a tank too and has a completely silent footswitch that has no resistance which is just really weird to me, the box claims it has P.A.F circuit which makes it sound really gimicky but I guess they did put a patent on the circuit in here

Maybe but I would much rather add gain to an amp like a laney vc30 just because the clean channel is so good! It doesn't make the gain channel crazy distorted just adds a bit more dive. The rat has way more gain on tap than the boosted drive channel haha
