Versatile great sounding amp
I bought this amp second hand on a quest for tone, moving up from an HT-5 practice amp. I mostly play rock styles.
The 4 channels on this amp take you across a wide range of styles. The two clean channels, bright and warm, could be described as being close to something like an AC30 and Fender-esque respectively. Personally, the bright clean doesn't really do anything for me or my play style, but the warm channel has to be one of my favourite clean channels. Loads of headroom, but can get to that breakup stage if you push it a bit, and it takes pedals beautifully.
The two OD channels, are basically variations on the same channel. The second of which is a bit more overdriven for leads, with a bit of a volume boost in there too (which I think is a bit to much).
It genuinely offers enough base tones to cover most bases for any guitarist, and all of them sound great in their own right.
In my opinion Blackstar could distill this amp down to just the warm clean and OD1 channels and I'd have everything I ever need.
The amp also has an excellent direct line output with a great cab emulator, and midi channel control for advanced loop switchers , like Gigrig or Boss' high end products, so you can switch the amp channel and pedals in depending on the tones you're trying to achieve.
