Critic Reviews

Samson Meteor

soundonsound.com

Samson's Meteor USB microphone impresses with its sleek design, reminiscent of a chrome droid. Ideal for podcasters, it offers zero-latency monitoring and simple connection via standard OS drivers, avoiding the hassle of installation. However, its 16-bit limitation and lack of ASIO support might frustrate musicians using DAWs like Cubase. Sound quality is generally pleasing, though some users may experience a digital "whine," a common issue with USB mics. The absence of mic gain control and playback signal further restricts its utility beyond casual recording. While it's not without its flaws, the Meteor is a solid choice for those focused on voice work.

Decent USB mic at an affordable price.

The Samson Meteor packs a pretty chrome punch as an inexpensive, portable studio mic. The downsides? It tends to pick up a LOT of background noise (you're gonna want to cup this one, folks!) and, the USB cable is in quite possibly the worst place- straight out the back at a 90 degree angle, ripe to be jostled and disconnected. Pop filter recommended but not necessary for this beastie.

Great mic

I like the ease of hooking this mic up to my computer. It's great for podcasts and records a warm vocal. I will be using this mic as I record my audiobooks.

Super portable and great sound

I bought this to improve upon the quality of my macbook pro's built-in microphone and was glad I did. It's super portable too, and for the money, I have zero complaints.
