Description

The Epiphone Les Paul Ultra II is a groundbreaking fusion of classic and modern guitar design, perfect for musicians looking to explore new sonic territories without sacrificing the iconic Les Paul feel. This guitar introduces the innovative NanoMAG pickup, which seamlessly blends with the traditional Alnico Classic humbuckers to offer a spectrum of tones ranging from the rich, beefy sound of a Les Paul to shimmering acoustic-like qualities. The NanoMAG is discreetly nestled at the fingerboard's harmonic sweet spot, capturing every nuance and overtone, while remaining resistant to feedback.

Built upon the renowned Les Paul Ultra platform, the Ultra II features a strategically chambered mahogany body, reducing weight and enhancing acoustic resonance. Its quilted maple top and rosewood fingerboard not only add to its visual allure but also contribute to its superior tonal depth. The guitar's true stereo output capabilities allow you to separate or combine the NanoMAG and humbucker sounds, offering limitless blending possibilities through dual amplifiers or PA systems.

Epiphone's collaboration with German acoustic pickup innovator Shadow has resulted in a guitar that retains the aesthetic and feel of a classic Les Paul while expanding its tonal horizons. Whether you're delivering searing electric solos or gentle acoustic melodies, the Les Paul Ultra II is versatile enough to meet any musical demand.

Epiphone Les Paul Ultra II Review

guitarmasterclass.net

The Epiphone Les Paul Ultra-II in Midnight Ebony offers a versatile tonal palette thanks to its combination of Alnico Classic Humbuckers and NanoMag pickups. The guitar's satin-finished neck ensures a comfortable grip, and its chambered body provides a lighter weight for extended play. However, the instrument falters with durability concerns, particularly with a fragile plastic jack plate prone to cracking. While it delivers a commendable sound and feel for the price, the lack of a dedicated switch for pickups and minor quality control issues may require additional investment or modifications. Overall, it's a promising choice for those willing to overlook these shortcomings for its sonic versatility and aesthetics.

Epiphone Les Paul Ultra-II review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The Epiphone Les Paul Ultra-II impresses with its lightweight body and versatile sound palette, making it an excellent choice for players seeking a modern Les Paul without breaking the bank. Its unique NanoMag pickup adds an acoustic dimension, offering flexibility for live and studio settings. However, access to the NanoMag's preamp controls is inconvenient during live performances, and minor finish flaws detract slightly from its overall appeal. Despite these drawbacks, this guitar delivers a compelling blend of classic and contemporary features, earning a solid recommendation for musicians wanting a hybrid guitar experience.

Solid solid

Saved up some cash for a guitar and spotted this on sale. Probably my favorite electric I’ve played. A little heavy (rosewood neck and all) but has a great interface and a narrow neck for fast movement. Having the nanomag pickup is really a plus too.
