Description

Combining the timeless allure of the SG design with cutting-edge technology, the Epiphone Prophecy SG Custom EX is a guitar crafted for the modern player craving versatility and style. The bold mahogany body, crowned with a AAA flame maple veneer, is finished in a thin Aged Vintage Gloss that not only enhances its visual appeal but also allows the wood to resonate freely. The Fishman Fluence pickups are the heart of this instrument, offering a sonic palette that ranges from vintage PAF warmth to searing modern humbucker tones, all the way to crisp single-coil clarity.

At the core of the Prophecy SG is a SlimTaper mahogany neck with an asymmetrical profile, designed to fit comfortably in your hand for swift playing. Coupled with a smooth ebony fretboard adorned with 24 jumbo frets and striking block and triangle inlays, this neck makes complex solos feel effortless. Whether on stage or in the studio, the Prophecy SG’s locking Grover Rotomatic tuners, Tune-O-Matic bridge, and stopbar tailpiece ensure rock-solid tuning stability and sustain.

This is not just an electric guitar; it's a statement piece for musicians who demand both heritage and innovation. The Prophecy SG Custom EX is not just built to play—it's built to inspire.

SG Prophecy Custom EX Review: I typically listen to stuff like Morbid Angel or Behemoth, but... | Epiphone | Electric Guitars | Reviews @ Ultimate-Guitar.Com

ultimate-guitar.com

The Epiphone Prophecy SG Custom EX impresses with its stunning sound, reliability, and flawless finish, making it an ideal guitar for metal enthusiasts. The hauntingly beautiful clean tones and EMG 81/85 pickups make it a versatile choice, though its genre range is somewhat limited. While the guitar excels in heavy metal, it might not suit those seeking a more bluesy vibe. The solid construction and low action right out of the box highlight Epiphone's craftsmanship. For its price, it rivals higher-end models, although some may hesitate due to the Epiphone brand. Overall, a superb value for metal players.

Value for money

I've bought this guitar in 2019. I've always been a fan of Epiphones. It's equipped with EMG 81/85 pickups. The only downside of the guitar is the battery box/compartment and the pots which need a change or upgrade. Overall, it's a great guitar i.e. light weight, beautiful body color and great sound. I guess Epiphone won't make this anymore in the future so worth investing.

A great all around guitar, a great alternative to an ESP Ltd. body shape similar guitar

A great guitar for Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Metallica, etc. The guitar does have a nice clean tone despite many claims that the EMG 81/85 pickup combo has a bad clean sound. This guitar really shines when combined with a high gain pedal. I love to play this guitar, and I would recommend this to someone looking for a badass looking guitar that sounds amazing too. The simple controls do not get in the way, and are useful at the same time. The middle position on the switch is really nice for clean lead guitar. I primarily use the lowest position, because both pickups together sound great. Really nice for writing metal riffs. The guitar performs best with the mids scooped, at least for a metal sound.
